B A C K T O K U Sigma Chapter was excited to move back to Lawrence and kick off the fall semester as the sophomore class, PC '23, moved into the chapter facility on August 10, eager to begin prep week and formal recruitment. We are thrilled to announce we welcomed our largest pledge class yet— 97!—and Sigma now has 287 undergraduate members. E X T R A , E X T R A ! A special thanks to Cory Windholz '21, membership vice president, and her recruitment team for making prep week and recruitment a memorable experience. This year's Bid Day theme, Breaking News!, was a hit thanks to wonderful planning by Molly Marino '22 and Makenzie Jones '22. U P C O M I N G E V E N T S Our annual REAL Wellness Week, Family Weekend, New Member Retreat, a Chapter Retreat for all members at Clinton Lake, Grilled Cheese with GPhiBs, and so many more await. Soon, Sigma's sophomores and new members will begin the Big/Li le process. This is our members' favorite me of the year! A W A R D - W I N N I N G C H A P T E R Last April, Gamma Phi Beta a ended the 33rd annual Sorority and Fraternity Life Awards. We are so proud to announce we were awarded Chapter of the Year by the KU Panhellenic Associa on for the 2023-24 school year! Sigma Chapter achieved the highest category, Excellence, in each Core Value of SFL: academic achievement, civic and community engagement, diversity and inclusivity, personal and professional development, and holis c wellness. We are so proud of our members' hard work and dedica on as individuals as we worked together to grow our sisterhood. We are also proud to announce Sigma Chapter received the Academic Excellence Award from Interna onal Headquarters! In addi on, our AHC board was awarded Overall Excellence and AHC/ Collegian Chapter Rela ons Excellence. We want to thank our amazing advisory team and AHC board for all that they do. Read more about these awards on page 4. M A K I N G T H E G R A D E Addi onally, Sigma Chapter achieved a 3.59 GPA and ranked third among all Panhellenic sorori es at KU for the spring. Our members always work hard toward academic success and development. T R U E A N D C O N S T A N T This summer, Sigma Chapter a ended the 150th GPB Conven on in Chicago. Sophia Hudson '21 (EVP), Leah Holton '22 (FVP), and I, along with Conven on Delegate Maren Rapp '23 and Alternate Conven on Delegate Charlo e Kerr '23, had a great me mee ng amazing sisters across genera ons. We look forward to more exci ng milestones ahead! I am so proud of what we have accomplished this year, and I strive to lead my sisters to discover their limitless poten al.
