Why did you join Tri Delta?
Argie: It was the first house on my schedule on Ice Water
Tea Day, and I loved everything about being there! It felt like
somewhere I could belong.
What aspects of Delta Mu Chapter made you proud to
be a member?
A: I love the work we do with our philanthropy, St. Jude, and that
the members can take a bus trip to see for themselves exactly
who they are raising funds for.
What are some of your favorite memories from
the chapter house?
A: My best memories are from living in the Tri
Delta house during my senior year, and especially
spending the night in the sleeping porch.
What degree did you earn from The
University of Alabama and what do you
do now?
A: Public relations. Instead of a traditional job,
I work as a family support manager.
How do you think Delta Mu Chapter
helped you become who you are today?
A: It encouraged me to step out of my
comfort zone and try new things.
What motivated you to become an alumna volunteer?
A: It was a way for me to be involved in Tri Delta alongside
my daughters!
What is your favorite part of being Reference Advisor?
A: I really enjoy getting to know and working alongside the
members. I also love the two weeks I spend at the house during
recruitment. It's a way to stay connected with what is going on
at the university and with Tri Delta. (I also get a lesson on the
latest trends and vocabulary!)
What would you say to someone else who is
thinking about volunteering?
A: Just do it! You will not regret it.
Tell us about your family and your interests!
A: I met my husband at The University of Alabama,
and we now live in Birmingham. We have three
children: Neil and Elaine, who were both Tri
Deltas at Alabama, and Will, who graduated
from Sewanee and is now in MBA school at
Alabama. In my spare time, I like to go to the
beach and the lake. I also enjoy exercising
and reading!
