Lambda Chi Alpha - University of Illinois - Champaign, Illinois • Fall 2024 Chi Zetagram Chi Zetagram The Future Is Bright CHI ZETA'S PATH TO RECOLONIZATION L ike many other higher education institutions across the country, the fraternity system at the University of Illinois continues to face recruitment and retention challenges. The percentage of freshmen men joining fraternities has continued to decline compared to previous years, and parents are far more heavily involved and engaged in the decision-making process of students joining a fraternity. Lambda Chi Alpha General Fraternity staff are working on a new strategy and approach to address this concern and will be sending representatives to select high schools soon. They intend to enact a concentrated effort to promote starting recruitment earlier than one's freshmen year in college. Chi Zeta's return to campus for the fall 2027 semester has been approved by the university. Campus administration and General Fraternity staff are both hopeful that by 2027, a recolonized fraternity chapter on campus will have an improved chance of success. Freshmen numbers are expected to be much higher then, both at Illinois and other larger universities. Only time will reveal whether that fact will have any significant positive impact on recruitment for fraternities. Thank you for your continued support of our Chi Zeta brotherhood.
