Page 3 Beta Sigma Psi A ll is going well as the chapter's recent recruitment efforts have resulted in increased membership! The recent pledge class consisted of five quality members. Currently, 29 actives and associates are expected in the house for fall 2024. Alumni, if you are aware of any promising prospects for chapter membership, please send their contact information to the recruitment chairmen today. Thank you for supporting Beta Chapter's continued growth. Bigger and Better F or almost 10 years, a large cohort of alumni, consisting mostly of members from the 1980s, have been meeting in the summer for a four day get-together. More than 30 brothers, including a 2023 graduate, attended the 2024 event. In recent years, Mark Kramer '80 has been hosting this group at his beautiful lake home on West Boggs Lake near Loogootee, Indiana. Activities include a Saturday morning worship service with communion at a nearby Lutheran church, boating, swimming, and many rounds of golf. The food and fellowship were plentiful and spectacular as always! Alumni EvEnt REcAp Lakeside Brotherhood CHAPTER ETERNAL LeRoy Klingbeil '50 of La Porte, passed away on September 21, 2022. He was born on February 11, 1929, in Chicago. Lee served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and graduated with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1953. He worked as a metallurgical engineer at Howmet for 33 years, retiring in 1986. Lee was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Beechwood Men's Club, and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Leon Bitner '56 September 18, 2023 Michael A. Owens '75, born November 29, 1955, passed away January 30, 2024. He is survived by his wife Amber, daughter, grandsons, and sisters. Mike worked in various roles at Public Service Indiana/ Cinergy/Duke Energy, Decatur County REMC, and Hoosier Energy. A Purdue graduate with a degree in electrical engineering, he was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Mike was known for his humor, generosity, and love for his family. He enjoyed sports, traveling, and sharing moments with his grandsons. Gary Martin '80 passed away on July 12, 2024, after living with ALS. Born June 8, 1959, in Lafayette, he was the son of Norman and Judith Richey Martin. He is survived by his nephew, niece, brother-in-law, and his beloved dog Hoppy. Gary graduated from Purdue's school of agriculture in 1981. A fifth-generation farmer in Fountain County, he also worked nearly 30 years as a bartender at Mountain Jacks in Lafayette. Known for his humor and love of fishing, Gary cherished annual trips to Canada and winters in Florida. ALUMNI NEWS Dick E. Guhl '53 stays busy with doctor visits and a new pacemaker. Kenneth A. Luedtke '65 traveled to St. Thomas to celebrate his 20th anniversary with Sandy in March 2024. He also participated in an Angel Flight to Washington, D.C., in April. Molnar '65 is fighting prostate cancer and is being cared for by a urologist, radiologist, endocrinologist, surgeon, and cardiologist along with his regular PCP and eye doctor. Robert E. Feagley '77 is staying busy in retirement, driving a semi-tractor trailer for a farm neighbor and hauling grain from fields.
