Summer 2024 Inside: Brothers Move Forward p. 2 Get Connected! p. 2 Our Bonds Matter p. 3 Congratulations, Seniors! p. 3 GLAZEBROOK GAZETTE The A L P H A T A U O M E G A F R A T E R N I T Y A T G E O R G I A T E C H G reetings once again from The Glazebook Gazette! Beta Iota had a successful spring semester, and their accomplishments in academics, recruitment, and philanthropy have positioned them as True Merit hopefuls at the upcoming 86th ATΩ Congress. In addition to the on-campus chapter's achievements, I want to highlight two developments from the Board of Trustees. HONORING JAKOB First and foremost, I want to express my condolences to those who were impacted by a tragedy in our Beta Iota brotherhood. In 2022, we lost brother Jakob Martin '21 in a car accident. Despite this profound adversity, our chapter has shown remarkable resilience and a commitment to honoring Jakob's memory. In collaboration with chapter leadership, the Board of Trustees has established the "Jakob Martin Memorial Scholarship" which will support brothers who demonstrate exceptional scholastic achievement and a dedication to service within the Georgia Tech community. Jakob's impact will forever be felt by those close to him and by Georgia Tech as a whole. If you want to learn more or contribute to this scholarship, please feel free to contact me directly. UPDATING THE CHAPTER HOUSE Secondly, I am thrilled to share that we have a chapter house renovation in the works. The last major renovation was completed nearly three decades ago in 1998, and our beloved Beta Iota house is in dire need of a fresh look. The Board of Trustees brought our concerns to the National Fraternity, and they've agreed to scope, manage, and partially fund a complete house renovation. Over the next several months, we're aiming to finish the job, but Richmond Property Group cannot fund the full scope of this ambitious project. This is where we need your support! RPG is willing to fund a majority of the project, but we are seeking additional financial support through alumni donations to complete the whole scope this summer. The support so far has been overwhelming, and there is a gap of roughly 10% of the total budget remaining. Please consider supporting our efforts at this critical juncture to ensure the work is completed in time for Fall Rush. We also confirmed that your gifts through the ATΩ Foundation will be tax-deductible, and I will be happy to coordinate with the Foundation representative on your behalf. If you're interested in making a pledge of support to help us cover the remainder or have any questions, please reach out to me directly. Thank you for your support of our chapter and for helping ensure our future on Georgia Tech's campus. We're excited to show off the new house during football season this Fall! Until next time, Andrew Jacon '15 Chairman of the Board of Trustees bot.gtato@gmail.com | (404) 861-9060 | GTATOalum.org SUPPORTING OUR FUTURE Beta Iota will honor the late Jakob Martin '21 with a memorial scholarship.
