Paying It Forward CHAPTER ADVISOR JENNIFER RIEDY CLARK '01 SHAPES THE NEXT GENERATION J ennifer Riedy Clark '01 considers herself incredibly lucky to be "snapped up" by Kappa Delta. "I had no idea how much that decision would impact my life," she said. Jennifer felt at home at 606 E. Rollins and fit right in with the "funny, engaging, supportive, smart, and creative" women in the house. Jennifer credits Epsilon Iota with giving her a crucial dose of confidence. "The members always encouraged me to be me! Whether I was performing in an IBA during Greek Week, writing a skit for Homecoming, or even dancing in RAMS, I knew they would encourage me to step outside my comfort zone." Now, 23 years later, she is determined to give back to the organization that has given her so much. While Jennifer was always drawn to studying law, she found her true passion is working with students. "I am currently the senior director of career development with Mizzou's School of Law. I love helping the students to find their passions." That same motivation led to Jennifer volunteering with Kappa Delta for the last 10 years. "I was inspired to volunteer by Bridgid Smith Kinney '93." The two met on Jennifer's first Bid Day, and she was awed by how much time and energy Bridgid dedicated to the chapter. "Epsilon Iota wouldn't be what it is today without her, and I hope I can give back just a percentage of what she did." Jennifer's favorite memories from the chapter house are simple ones like enjoying Friends on Thursday nights and eating Stan's chocolate cake. As advisor, Jennifer had a front-row seat during the recent chapter house remodel. "I want to say 'thank you' to every single person who donated!" she said. "I drive by the house every day and I get goosebumps thinking of how many women will call it home in the future." Today, Jennifer continues to make memories with a new generation of chapter leaders. "I was able to spend almost a week with them last summer at the National Convention," she shared. "Working with them as they figured out a new dynamic is wonderful, and I am so grateful to know them." Jennifer is married and has an energetic 7-year-old daughter. "For people who knew me in college, if you can believe it, she talks more than I do!" The family lives in Columbia, and you can frequently find Jennifer eating at Café Berlin on the weekends or taking a ride on the MKT trail. "I can sometimes be found singing the National Anthem at Mizzou sporting events. Go, Tigers!" IF YOU'D LIKE TO CONTACT JENNIFER, YOU CAN SEND HER AN EMAIL AT RIEDYJ@MISSOURI.EDU. Why You Should Volunteer "Run, don't walk, to sign up to be an alumna volunteer! It is so fun to be around college girls, and there are many ways you can give back. We can always find something for you to do."
