PAGE 3 T his year, Alpha Mu has remained involved on campus and had the honor of serving our community in many ways. One of our biggest achievements was getting to watch our sisters win numerous ASB positions. Hannah Watts '21 won ASB president, Alex Kipping '21 won ASB attorney general, and three of our members won senate seats. Another came when former President Josie Austin '20 was nominated for Panhellenic Scholar of the Year. We followed these accomplishments with the academic banquet. Our women have made us proud through several achievements and awards. Each year, Kappa Delta chooses to participate in the weeklong Derby Days events. At Ole Miss, Sigma Chi starts the week off with a sorority banner competition, followed by a blood drive and a white rose sale each day of the week. This year, Kappa Delta placed second in the banner competition, helped to buy roses on the Union Plaza, and donated blood for the blood drive. At the end of Derby Days, Sigma Chi hosts an annual powderpuff competition in which all the sororities participate. The freshman KΔs managed to place second this year to Delta Gamma. By the end of the week, Kappa Delta ended up placing third overall in Derby Days. In total, Sigma Chi was able to raise $31,000 from Derby Days. Kappa Delta, along with the other Greek life organizations on campus, played a big role in helping with fundraising. The proceeds were donated to the Thomas Mayo Lab, the Walker Fielder Scholarship, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, which is Sigma Chi's national philanthropy. Derby Days is so much fun and something that Kappa Delta always loves to participate in! Along with Derby Days, we recently hosted another Mother/Daughter Alumnae Brunch. This event allowed past Kappa Deltas to bring their daughters to the house and enjoy some food and a good time. It was a huge success, and we loved getting to see and meet all the wonderful women.
