4 DELTA TAU DELTA Cornell University P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested THE CORDELT Delta Tau Delta at Cornell cornelldelts.org Edward Zeltner '24, Aaron Hafkin '25, Noah Diamond '25, Jonathan Stolow '24, and Kyle Chen '25 spend their spring break touring Europe. I n 1997, Dr. Jeff Katz '86 emerged from a "self-imposed hibernation" caused by medical school and training to realize he was missing his Delt brothers. Always an enthusiastic golfer, he called several alumni, and the annual Beta Omicron Bad Golf outing was born. Why "Bad Golf?" While many of us play golf and some play well, most don't. That has not mattered in the ensuing years, as the golf has remained comical and the time to catch up has become more and more priceless. After several years of the location bouncing around, the group settled on Orlando as a permanent home for the event (until 2024—more to come on that!) Over time, more and more brothers from the '80s and early '90s joined to play a few rounds and/or to drink a few rounds. In the last four years, we have added spouses to the invites, which enriched the time we all spent together. In 2022, following the isolation of the pandemic, a record 22 brothers plus several brave spouses joined us for the Bad Golf trip. In 2024, the dynamic changed again. One of the trip's regulars, Nathan "Force" Taylor '85, underwent open heart surgery and endured a stroke. The good news is that he survived a medical ordeal many would not have. The bad news was that Nate clearly wouldn't be able to join us in 2024 in Orlando. So we decided to bring golf to him. John "Japes" Pirie '83, the main event organizer, consulted with the venerable Dr. Katz and pivoted the planning; Bad Golf 2024 was moved to Nate's neck of the woods. In March, about 35 of us, including several first-timers, made the trip to Half Moon Bay, California, and a good time was had by all. Half Moon Bay is a beautiful place for a round of golf, and any of us would highly recommend it. As always, however, the best part of the trip was catching up with lifelong friends. Nate was excited to see so many of his brothers and we were beyond thrilled to see him. As of this writing, he continues to recover and improve, strengthened by the love and support of his family and his brothers.
