Hello, from the office of Gwen Larson, Theta Chapter House Director. What a wonderful year it has been at 512 Rollins! With a successful recruitment of 72 beau ful, smart, and ac ve ladies, we were off to a strong start to the 2023–24 academic school year. Winning 1st place overall for Homecoming for the second year in a row was spectacular and set the bar high within the Greek Community. At the end of the first semester, our fabulous chapter execu ve board said adieu and in came our new leaders. Our new officers are stellar, smart, mature and easy to work with. I am excited to finish out the year working as a team and start next year with our efficacious and powerful young ladies. In January, Columbia experienced extreme cold weather and Kappa Kappa Gamma, along with many other houses, suffered the effects of the acutely low temperatures. Our sprinkler system pipes could not handle the severity of the frigid weather and succumbed to the pressure of the frozen pipes. Unfortunately, our house sustained substan al damage on the northwest side of the dining room along with the Chapter Room. We are so blessed to have a throng of capable alumnae, vendors, insurance support, and understanding girls to work through this staggering turmoil. It is going to be a summer filled with much ac vity in the house with repairs, renova ons, and updates. The house will be glorious and primed to receive the girls in August. The young ladies have enjoyed a second semester of ac vi es, recrui ng four new members, ini a on, Greek Week, interviews, acceptance into programs and preparing for gradua on. What a joy to celebrate with the members as they share acceptance into the pres gious nursing school, fabulous internships, study abroad opportuni es, and leadership roles within PHA. The Theta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma presents a legacy of members who have set an example of superb trailblazers who are making a difference not only to the current chapter members but to the various communi es where they reside. Soon these young ladies will be able to witness 150 years of love and loyalty. The Chapter just finished with our Mom's Weekend and it was glorious. The girls and their moms had so much fun and I enjoyed many wonderful conversa ons. With an event spent at a winery and another with vendors selling clothing, jewelry, flowers, coffee and many other wares, the house was filled with laughter, joy, pride and love. I love watching the girls interact with their mothers. It took me back to 1976 when I, too, had a wonderful weekend with my mother at my sorority's Mom's Weekend. Precious memories were made. HOUSE DIRECTOR UPDATE Gwen " I am honored to be a part of the Theta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma team at Mizzou. Words cannot express how grateful I am to the House Board and Advisers who have mentored me, offered me the opportunity to serve, and have been patient as I have navigated the learning process of the Kappa protocol. I am looking forward to an outstanding 2024–25 academic year at 512 Rollins." A Wonderful First Year at the House Gwen Larson, House Director
