GAMMA PHI BETA 3 D orothy Braly Baird '33 graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's of fine arts in 1936. She devoted her life, from graduation until the time of her death, to serving the interests of Gamma Phi Beta. She was Psi Chapter House Corporation Board treasurer for 34 years and held office in the Oklahoma City Alumnae Chapter. After her death in 1987, she graciously left her estate to Psi Chapter. As a homage to her dedication and love for the organization, this scholarship fund was established. Receipt of this scholarship is based on service to Gamma Phi Beta (Psi Chapter), campus involvement, community service, and GPA. As noted by the estate, service to Gamma Phi Beta (Psi Chapter) will bear the most weight in determining scholarship winners. Dorothy Braly Baird '33 Scholarship Recipients Congratulations, Sisters! P rimary recruitment will begin August 8 with Bid Day scheduled for August 13. A few changes that have taken place over the last few years include the PNM Introduction Form along with the loosening of National Panhellenic Conference guidelines about Positive Panhellenic Contact ahead of primary recruitment and Strict Silence during recruitment. Anyone may fill out a PNM (Potential New Member) Introduction Form. The members love to have additional information that an applicant will not provide on her Panhellenic Registration Form. Those forms may be found at gammaphibeta.org using the "Recommend a Member" link. As part of its motivation to grow registrations for primary recruitment, NPC voted in 2020 to loosen the rules about contacting PNMs. Previously, alumnae and collegians needed to have known a PNM before making contact; the updated guidance is that any member may reach out to provide advice, support, guidance, and other resourceful information with a "Go Greek" message. This past year, NPC voted to ease the rules regarding Strict Silence during recruitment periods. With a marked increase in the number of PNMs who have been withdrawing and/or intentionally single preferencing after pref round, this change is intended to give PNMs the green light to talk to current members about their experience to keep more PNMs in the process. Finally, if you have information you would like to share that is not contained in the PNM Intro Form, feel free to send an email to psirecruitment1105@gmail.com, which will be directed to the most appropriate person in a timely manner. The collegiate recruitment leaders and advisors may not always be available to take a phone call or message via text in the time crunch of recruitment activities but will have the information gathered and relayed to them.
