DELTA TAU DELTA PAGE 3 W e were successful in reaching our original goal of $5.5 million for the Pledge Delt Again campaign for our new Shelter. Most of this early money from large donors goes to the DTD Educational Fund, which is great, but there is a "maximum" amount that can come back to the House Corporation to pay toward the new Shelter. We have reached that maximum which, according to the IRS, was 36% of donated funds. The remaining funds donated to the Educational Fund will be coming back to the chapter for scholarships. LOAN DETAILS To fund the new Shelter construction, the House Corporation had to take out $4.5 million in building loans. The money that came directly to the House Corporation could be used to pay this down, which it has done to date. The loan amount still stands at $3.5 million, meaning the HOC pays about $23,000 per month toward this mortgage. We get our money from the members' house bills each month, meaning less money for the chapter to do things they want to do. We have a very good rate on the original loan, but this will most likely change when it comes due in three years, resulting in higher mortgage payments and more money needed to pay down the loan. HOW YOU CAN HELP We need more alumni to step up and help pay down the current loan. If you have yet to donate to the Shelter or would like to increase your pledge to either a higher amount or by adding a year or two, please consider doing so now. Alumni support can help us get this loan down to a manageable amount not only for the House Corporation but also for the members so they can have more funding available for recruitment, chapter events, events on campus, and more. Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to get us to this point—we couldn't have done it without you! We need that same support and enthusiasm to bring this project across the finish line and without affecting the quality of the new Shelter or the experience of our youngest members. If you wish to donate toward the loan, please reach out to Treasurer Joe Millar '68 or any House Corporation members. We appreciate your support! CHAPTER ETERNAL Bill Peacher '69 entered Chapter Eternal on December 20, 2023, following a long battle with liver cancer. Bill was instrumental in developing the new Delta Chi Shelter's financing as well as the DTD scholarship program. He will be deeply missed by our Delta Chi brotherhood. Paul J. Wiegel '90 entered Chapter Eternal on November 12, 2023. Paul was a businessman on the outside, but everything he did was for his two boys, Garrett and Alex. Paul's home was also a safe space for any individual that needed it. He was a guardian angel for some, a father to most, and a friend to all. He loved hard, and even after his death, he will continue to spread smiles wherever his name spoken.
