Page 3 DOING WHAT YOU LOVE How Andrew Bradley '04 Put in the Work— at Valpo and Beyond A s a lifelong sports lover, Andrew Bradley '04 discovered his passion for sports broadcasting through his high school's TV station; he joined and covered the sporting events he wasn't already playing in. After college, Drew's lifelong dream came true: he started his career as a production assistant at ESPN. Drew moved to Orlando, Florida, in 2006 to work for the Golf Channel, where he is now the lead field producer for its news shows. Drew made many wonderful memories at Valpo while taking full advantage of his professional opportunities. He co-hosted a sports radio show on WVUR and spent a semester in D.C. to intern at the NBC affiliate's sports department, to name a few. He even served as Indiana Zeta's VP of communications, despite having no fraternity plans in the beginning. "Once recruitment came around and my friends went to events, I found that SigEp was the right place for me," Drew said. He immediately connected with the brothers he met at events, and before long, the chapter became like a family. "SigEp changed my whole view on fraternities and was one of the best decisions I made during my four years at Valpo." Aiming for the Green Indiana Zeta taught Drew both to be a leader and work harder—not just in school but for all his goals in life. "These lessons are still part of my professional life and helped me establish my career in television." Drew's responsibility as lead field producer is to ensure that Golf Channel news shows have every single element they need. Those elements are vast in sports news, such as camera crews sending event highlights to the studio, arranging interviews with players, working with reporters on what they cover, and more. Along the way, Drew has worked in two Olympics (Rio and Tokyo) and covered nearly 60 major championships around the world. He's even met and interviewed golf legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Tiger Woods. "Even though I'm on the road half the year away from my family, my job is exciting, and no two days are the same," he said. "I'm very fortunate to have the career I've had so far in this industry." Lifelong Connection In the years since graduating, Drew has been to countless brothers' weddings. While on the road, he tries to get dinner with alumni in the area whenever possible. "The friendships we formed have lasted more than 20 years now, and I see them growing for a long time. Always proud to be a SigEp!" When not on the road, Drew always loves spending time with his wife, Liz, and their two kids, Austin and Emily. He also enjoys his free time by golfing with friends and his son. I'd encourage brothers to always work and fight for what they want—but know it may not come quick or easy. Celebrate each step you take on your way to your goals. Sometimes the journey is as good as the destination (something I've learned in recent years and wish I knew when I was younger."
