3 Theta Chi at ISU F or the past year, 11 alumni have worked tirelessly to lead our historic Theta Chi – Alpha Mu: Inspiring the Next Century of Excellence campaign While we know there is more to accomplish as we place the final touches on this amazing initiative, it is appropriate to recognize the Herculean efforts of the campaign cabinet Thank you, brothers, for your phenomenal dedication and accomplishment! Cabinet members recently expressed how they have been inspired by the campaign: "One of the more exciting aspects of being on the campaign, in addition to funding scholarships, was reconnecting with several brothers whom I had not spoken to since the day I left 219 Ash as a graduate 45 years ago." –Paul Burgan '78 "I changed a great deal during my time at Iowa State University.. When I arrived, I was shy, lacking confidence, and had little vision for my future. When I graduated, I was a confident, goal setting, decisive, and a "can achieve anything" type of person. That metamorphosis was the basis for any degree of success that I achieved over the years in my dual careers of engineering and farming. Theta Chi and Iowa State University were a big part of that. As a token of my thanks for that foundational change that occurred in me, I am very glad to be able to give back to those institutions so I can help young people today achieve their own success and greatness." –Larry Buss '68 "During the numerous conversations I had with so many wonderful and incredibly generous alumni, it was astounding but not surprising how transformative their Theta Chi experiences positively affected their personal and professional lives. The comprehensive dedication and passion for our chapter and alma mater is simply amazing." –Jon Fleming '75 "As I saw this opportunity, it would allow me to reach the following initiatives: 1. Help the cabinet achieve the financial goals of the campaign to better recruit the best young men to Theta Chi. 2. Mo vate these men to achieve the highest scholastic metrics at ISU by using the Scholastic Scholarships from the campaign. 3. Inspire these young men to give back to Alpha Mu Theta Chi like so many before them." –Mike Mendlik '81 "Alpha Mu Chapter of Theta Chi impacted— and I like to think bettered—all of us. It offered me many opportunities for growth, leadership, and community. These opportunities helped shape who I am today and anything I may have been able to achieve." –Dave Rush '85 "Every gift of time, talent, or treasure is an opportunity to give back and impact future generations of Alpha Mu." –Kurt Tjaden '85 "Theta Chi is responsible for much of my college experience. It's where I met my best friends, built camaraderie with guys both like and much different than me, and matured as a student, friend, and leader. I want to see the house grow and become stronger to give other young men the opportunities and memories of their lifetimes." –Bret Keast '89 "Alpha Mu has had a substantial impact on who I am today; not sure I can completely measure it. I was able to become part of something much bigger than myself or what I thought was possible. I was able to spend that transformational time with a great group of men and my best friend. Thirty years later, they are still my best friends and my support network. I can't imagine not having that group in my life." –Doug Den Adel '94 "Theta Chi provided me with numerous role models that challenged me to do more with my time at Iowa State. The scholarship endowment, as part of the campaign, is creating transformational opportunities to recruit and develop student leaders on campus and in the Ames community for generations to come." –Alan Terrell '00 "I viewed working on the campaign as a way to help ensure that those experiences and opportunities that I value so much can be made available to current and future members. It is a way to show my gratitude and to help make sure that Alpha Mu is one of the premier chapters within Theta Chi and at Iowa State." –Jared Graeve '08 "Theta Chi has meant more than a brotherhood to me. If it were not for a $1,000 scholarship that I initially received as a freshman, I would have never gotten involved. It is this spirit of prioritizing academics and extending a helping hand that attracted me to the chapter. Now, years later, the least I can do is give back to that same spirit and belief system." –Moses Bomett '13 C a m pa i g n C a b i n e t L e a d s H i s t o r i C F u n d r a i s i n g C a m pa i g n Doug Den Adel '94 Paul Burgan '78 Jared Graeve '08 Mike Mendlik '81 Kurt Tjaden '85 Moses Bomett '13 Larry Buss '68 Jon Fleming '75 Bret Keast '89 Dave Rush '85 Alan Terrell '00
