3 The members of California Gamma consistently shine brightly within the Panhellenic, USC, and broader Los Angeles communities. Surrounded by talented and driven women in Pi Phi, each member is empowered to realize their utmost potential across all facets of life. Recruitment Success This year's recruitment was a remarkable success, largely thanks to the tireless dedication of our recruitment team, particularly Vice President Recruitment Madison Sturgeon '22, Director Recruitment Events Savannah Davis '22, and Director Member Selection Angelina Lyon '23. Their hard work and commitment made the recruitment process not only smooth but also exceptionally rewarding. Recruitment this year went beyond just selecting New Members; it served as a catalyst for bringing the women of California Gamma even closer. The energy and enthusiasm that permeated throughout recruitment were infectious, strengthening the bonds of sisterhood within our chapter. As a result of our collective efforts, we are thrilled to welcome an amazing class. We couldn't be prouder of our New Members and are excited to see the positive impact they will undoubtedly have on our sisterhood. Philanthropic Efforts In February, Vice President Community Relations Anna Karlshoej '23 and Director Philanthropy Emelia Reinoso '23 organized a Valentine's Day philanthropy. Family and friends could buy a rose and a Pi Phi would deliver it to any USC student. Another one of our beloved fundraisers, Pi Social, which supports Pi Beta Phi's national philanthropic effort, will be on April 19. The event will be open to the entire USC community and will feature our famous "Pie a Pi Phi" tradition. All proceeds from the Valentine's philanthropy and Pi Social benefit Pi Beta Phi Foundation and Read > Lead > AchieveĀ®, Pi Phi's philanthropic effort focusing on literacy and supporting communities in need. We also have been conducting our Champions Are ReadersĀ® (CAR) program, where every Friday a group of Pi Phis visits the USC Magnet 32nd Street Elementary School to provide one-on-one reading support to the first-grade class. CAR always reminds us how meaningful Read > Lead > Achieve's work truly is. Academic Achievements At California Gamma, we prioritize academic achievement, and our chapter house environment proudly embodies this commitment. Each evening, you'll find our dining room bustling with dedicated women engaged in Pi Phi's study hours. What sets Pi Phi apart is our diverse membership representing various majors and interests, from fine arts to entrepreneurship to mechanical engineering and beyond. Furthermore, we are delighted to announce that our chapter consistently surpasses the all-fraternity and sorority, all-women's, and all- undergraduate GPAs, reflecting our dedication to academic excellence. Personal Development Our chapter has outlined several key goals to enrich the sorority experience for our members. Firstly, we aim to enhance members' professional growth and preparedness for the future by hosting a series of networking events, career development workshops, and personal finance sessions. Secondly, with a focus on fostering strong bonds of sisterhood, we plan to organize a variety of large and engaging sisterhood events throughout the year, offering opportunities for members to connect, create lasting memories, and strengthen the sense of community within our chapter. Lastly, recognizing the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), we are committed to incorporating DEI principles into all aspects of our organization, from recruitment practices to programming initiatives, creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all members regardless of background or identity.
