ENTRE NOUS P i B e t a P h i a t t h e U n i v e r s i t y o f S o u t h e r n C a l i f o r n i a • S p r i n g 2 0 2 4 Head football coach Lincoln Riley doing the "angel pose" that the Pi Phis taught him when they brought cookies to the team. USC Pi Phis meet in Boulder, Colo., to cheer on the Trojans. From left: Victoria Graveline Waiss '89, Christy Bean Palazzo '88, Mandy Gibbs Shaw '88, and Staci Schneider Hodges '89. You are only as strong as your weakest link. Happy spring! We are all excited for warmer weather and outside activities. After 13 years of writing the Entre Nous President's letter, I'm reaching out to all Pi Phi alumnae asking if you would like to join us on the California Gamma Chapter House Corporation. You might be asking, "What are the qualifications to join House Corporation?" You must be: A Pi Phi alumna from any chapter. It doesn't have to be California Gamma. A Pi Phi alumna who can live and work anywhere. We rarely go to the house and meet via Zoom. A Pi Phi alumna with amazing memories of their California Gamma days (or any chapter) who wants to give back to California Gamma. The commitment to serve on Chapter House Corporation can be as few as a couple hours a month. You can split a job with a sister, create a committee, or become a board member. Whatever you would like, we have a position for you. I joined House Corporation when I went to the 2009 sleepover at California Gamma. Kelly Ryan Wilson '85 put our names on a sign-up asking to help Chapter House Corporation. We quickly received a phone call from the President at the time and were asked to meet her for coffee. Well, I am still here, and the rest is history. When I joined, there were 10 people on the board. Now, we have three! Robin Greenway MacGillivray '74 and Susan Schaffer '75 joined the board before I did, and I love working with them. What are our specific needs? We need a fundraising chair (i.e., the brick program), special events chair (alumnae luncheons and sleepovers), decorators for our beautiful house, human resource management, a newsletter editor, and a liaison between the House Director (Mom Ann) and our amazing staff. I have truly gotten much more out of my job on House Corporation than I have given. I would never have thought I would meet so many California Gammas that span the pledge classes of 1955 to 2024. As I have expressed in past newsletters, the stories and friendships are the same, just the names and faces have changed. Our Pi Phi alumnae are collectively a strong group of women. Won't you please think about joining our Chapter House Corporation board? Please contact me with your interest or questions.
