T here were several great sororities at Florida State, but the only one that felt like home to Elizabeth Johnson Waring '92 was Kappa Delta. Her family legacy with Kappa Delta began with her grandmother, Mary Lilla Bevan Johnson '31, when FSU was an all-women's college. (Mary was also the first female mayor of Madison, Florida!). It then continued with Elizabeth's sister, Mary Bess Wilson, Florida '88, at Beta Pi. "These two women have been inspirational leaders in my life, and I knew that if both of these great people loved this sorority, it would be the perfect place for me!" Coming from a small town to FSU was a major transition, but Kappa Alpha gave Elizabeth a support system of sisters with the same goals and values. "Joining a sorority is the experience of a lifetime. Your sisterhood continues to grow through the bonds of friendship you established." " Joining a sorority is the experience of a lifetime. " In college and beyond, Elizabeth and her sisters celebrated life's achievements and joys and supported one another through tough times. Her undergraduate highlights include being pinned by her grandmother at the White Rose ceremony, dancing with her father at Parents Weekend ("For the one and only time—he was not a dancer!"), sharing her engagement news with the Chapter, and events like KD Wing Ding and KD Shipwrecked. "Beth Martin Langford '78 regularly came to speak to us—she is always so incredibly gracious and intelligent." Elizabeth tries to visit her KD sisters often and has upcoming plans with a few alumnae in the Ponte Vedra Beach area. She frequently sees her close friend and pledge sister Gigi Witt Register '92, and the two have even done business with each other. "I would probably never have met Gigi without Kappa Delta, and I am a better person because of her and knowing her family!" Elizabeth lives in St. Augustine, Florida, and works at her family's historic business, Busy Bee. She enjoys spending time with her husband of 30 years (fellow FSU graduate), Lucas, and their two sons, John Luke (22) and Josh Jordan (18). She also loves cheering for the Seminoles, reading and studying the Bible, and anything to do with saltwater. "Remember that a positive attitude is infectious. Be humble, work hard, serve others joyfully, don't hold grudges, and choose happiness. A positive attitude is infectious and can change the mood of the environment. And remember to smile!" Want to connect with Elizabet Want to connect with Elizabet h ?
