BETA BETA CHAPTER of ALPHA PHI at MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY Spring 2024 The Ivy The Ivy I f you are waiting for an invitation, please consider this your engraved version or a gentle tap on your shoulder. We are looking for a few good women to join our team! And if you think you are not qualified, you could not be more wrong. If you are anything like me, I was not particularly active in the chapter and probably enjoyed it more for the social aspects, if you know what I mean. In a leap of faith nine years ago when someone asked, I decided to do more and joined the House Corporation Board. I invited some Beta Beta sisters, plus friends from other chapters who were also curious enough to join HCB with me. Years later, I am happy to say we have accomplished a lot, and Beta Beta is in a remarkable place: • No. 1 on campus for recruitment for another year. • Recent house inspection comments: "Best kept house on campus." • Full house of fantastic women. • Financially sound with a balanced budget, savings, and no debt. • Two terrific chapter advisors and one local regional advisor. Our board has had fun and worked hard to maintain this beautiful house. It is now time to pass the torch to a new board. Beta Beta is in a tremendous place to bring on a new board with fresh ideas and no major needs or house projects on the horizon. Our plan is to work through the transition with new board members. Consider this your invitation to build a new HCB. Call your pledge sisters and form a new board with your friends. No need to live close by. Most of us live in Southeast Michigan while some of our board lives farther away in miles but is only a Zoom call away! Reach out to any of us and we would be happy to meet for coffee or a phone call to talk about how rewarding HCB has been. Read through this newsletter to learn more about the fantastic women of this chapter while you think back on your memories of Beta Beta. We hope you will answer this invitation to do more and take Beta Beta into a bright future!
