I am Hallie Horner '21 from Waterloo, Nebraska, and I have the extraordinary privilege this year of serving as Pi Chapter's president. Before I give you an update on our beloved chapter, I will take a moment to introduce myself. I am a show choir kid, I love making my oat milk latte in the morning, and I have a wonderful family, which includes four other Pi Chapter alumnae! I cannot help but be so appreciative of all the alumnae who have paved the way for me and the many others who call Gamma Phi Beta our home. Thank you for your loyalty and love for this chapter! HOUSE AND HEARTS FULL • Fall 2023 began with the addition of 47 wonderful new members through primary recruitment. • In September, we co-hosted the annual Scoops for Schools fundraiser with FarmHouse fraternity and donated $4,367 to Girls on the Run! • In October, we also hosted our Fall Phistival with Pi Beta Phi. • On November 5, our chapter headed to Lincoln AirPark to volunteer and support another Girls on the Run 5K race. We appreciate any opportunity we have to support strong girls and show ourselves to be strong women! BY THE BOOK By way of learning, our pursuit of academic excellence continued as we achieved a 3.5 chapter GPA; 42 members received a 4.0! We are so proud of the academic dedication of each sister and cannot wait to continue that momentum. LEADERS ON CAMPUS You can find a Gamma Phi almost anywhere you look on campus. • Lydia Storm '20 served on Homecoming court and represented our sorority with grace and service. • Hallie Horner '21 and Leanne Bugay '21 will be serving on Gamma Phi's Nominating Committee to select the upcoming International Council for the next biennium. • Madelyn Craft '20 was chosen as a TA for the NHRI Leadership class. • Emmerson Putnam '21 and Meg Gross '22 serve as programming and marketing directors for UNL's Dance Marathon. • Sydney Beck '22, Ava Stanek '22, Mia VanLeewen '22, and Hallie were selected for the Clifton Builders program. The members of Pi Chapter are beyond extraordinary! WHAT'S AHEAD? This spring, we look forward to initiating our 11 continuous open bidding members, hosting our annual Moonball philanthropy, attending a variety of chapter events and, of course, celebrating our seniors! As we move forward, we are committed to our mission to promote inclusion and engagement in all chapter areas to create a community of belonging, foster development, and positively impact membership experience and lifelong dedication. Increase members' desire to live in by hosting member retention meetings, semesterly town halls for each pledge class, and increasing live-in incentives. Improve leadership development by hosting bimonthly meetings with our officers, department bonding, and intentional development and goal-setting conversations with each other. Increase philanthropic involvement and service by sharing volunteer testimonials and increasing communication with Girls on the Run leadership.
