RETAILOBSERVER.COM MARCH 2024 38 FIRST PLACE / SECONDARY BATH Jaque Bethke Jaque Bethke Desgign, LLC. Photo: Phil Johnson, Provisional Media Small But Mighty — One of the primary objectives was to create a home that could host large dinner parties for family and friends; however, they did not want the house to be too "serious." The team began by gathering information from the clients and putting together a wonderfully mastered floor plan and accompanying architecture that would perfectly fulfill their needs. The bath space lacked a tub which the client desired, so a closet was relocated and a wet room was constructed in its place. A 3D Model was constructed so the client could check the bath suite's function, storage, special scale, coloring in daylight and darkness, and view all the materials in place as they were selected. "We could address any concerns before they became a problem." A show-stopping new tile pattern created a beautiful focal point, complete with niches that can double as candle shelves for a relaxing soak, or as a place to put bath products for everyday use. Grab bars that double as towel holders were masterfully placed, and single basin was used on the vanity to provide more counter space. An artistic suspended light fixture was installed to add both volume and a sense of arrival at entry. A backlit mirror was installed with a magnifying mirror to give directed light for tasks performed at the sink area. The entire vanity area is covered in a beautifully textured one by one glass tile. A separate toilet room bookends the ensuite with a matching glass enclosure and separate storage. A large window is installed in this space to allow natural light into the bath space. Working with massive proportions and volume enabled us to create a beautiful grand space that matched the clients' desire for comfort. A measure of the magic was accomplished with texture – we topped the space with a vinyl wallcovering that gives an additional layer of durability in this "small but mighty ensuite."
