Oak Lane Triumph
Virginia Kappa | Virginia Tech | Fall 2023
V
irginia Kappa Alumni Volunteer Corporation and undergraduate
chapter have completed our most successful year and are in the
strongest position in the history of the chapter.
Buchanan Cup #5
At the 58th Grand Chapter Conclave, Virginia Kappa was awarded its
fifth Buchanan Cup ('71, '75, '83, '97, '23). Virginia Kappa had strong
representation with 12 attendees (six undergraduates and six AVC
members) as undergraduates attended chapter development training
(building chapter culture, leadership skills, and executive thinking)
while alumni attended AVC-oriented development instruction (SLC,
mentoring, financial compliance, and fundraising).
Return to the House at 2475 Oak Lane
On August 1, House Supervisor Jacob Fugere '24 became the first
undergraduate to reoccupy the chapter house since 2017. After
several years of building its manpower, the chapter finally achieved
the university-required membership threshold to return to the
house with 36 undergraduate residents, a house supervisor, faculty
fellow advisor (Sharon Williams, in the Myers/Lawson School of
Construction), and current vacancy for a future graduate scholar.
Virginia Kappa had 31 brothers accept bids for fall 2023. The
chapter now stands at 145, the largest undergraduate membership
in our history!
Fundraising for the Chapter House
Also in August, in a matter of days after a donation appeal, AVC
received more than $34,000 to fund moving and storage expenses,
replacement of household items, landscaping, and limited exterior
maintenance. Thank you for your continued support, alumni!
Virginia Kappa undergraduates and alumni
