FA L L 2 0 2 3 N E W M E M B E R S Alabama Alpha Mu Chapter secured a great pledge class of 50 new brothers, one of the biggest we have ever seen. ey have completed new member education and are a great addition. We are grateful to have such a great group of younger guys driving the chapter forward through the next critical years. H O U S E C H A N G E S We officially began construction in mid- September with the demolition of the Backhalls Dormitory. In addition, the bathrooms have been completely revamped. J&L Construction has also begun work on the Band Room, with the addition of new bathrooms on top of an overall faceli. ere are a lot of great things on the horizon with the construction. We have one of the most beautiful properties in the nation—soon enough we will have the house to go along with it. P H I L A N T H R O P I C A L D I L I G E N C E is fall, we raised over $20,000 for the Beat Bama food drive, collected canned goods, and participated in over 700 hours of community service. We also created a philanthropy fund so that we can help the community ad hoc. Last year, for example, we used this fund to help the tornado victims in Selma. We have also had the opportunity to utilize our beautiful property by teaming up with sororities to host philanthropy events at the house. Recently, we hosted Phi Mu Music Fest, which benefited Children's Miracle Network Hospital. We are in the process of planning our annual Golf Tournament benefiting men's mental health, which will be held in April. We also work with Onward, which is an on- campus ministry group with a focus on Greek Life, especially fraternities. Onward leads a brotherhood bible study every Wednesday before chapter. R A M P I N G U P O N TA I L G AT I N G On a typical game day at the Alabama Alpha Mu house, we have live music and food. Upon the completion of the Band Room, we will have an updated space to be able to continue these festivities. It is always nice to meet alumni at these tailgates and compare the stories they have as well as the ones we are making in the present. K E E P I N G A L A B A M A A L P H A M U S T R O N G While the house may look a little different right now, our chapter's values remain strong. We have been diligently committed to preserving the history the house carries through this entire process. Our new member educators ensured our morals, stories, traditions, etc., have all been instilled in the next generation of Alabama Alpha Mus. We are all extremely excited and grateful for all the great things that have happened and are to come.
