P H I K A P P A T A U 3 A lpha Tau began the fall semester strong with an orientation event arranged by the Board of Governors at the Cornell Ropes Course, where members and Chapter Advisor Scott Conroe '01 participated in several team- building and problem-solving activities. Recruitment began soon after and included a week packed full of fun activities with prospective new members that culminated in a boat ride on Cayuga Lake where brothers celebrated the six new members that would form Psi Class 2023. During this year's Homecoming festivities, collegians enjoyed bonding with several visiting alumni. Ethan Igel '20, Owen Cherner '21, Niraj Jinan '21, Cooper Stepke '21, and Will Bodenman '21 reunited with the undergraduates for a tailgate in the morning, and Zach Silver '16 and Pete Buonanno '18 visited the chapter as well. By way of philanthropy initiatives, the brothers participated in a park cleanup event with over 20 attendees as part of a charity contest with Alpha Chi Omega. Together, we raised more than $300. We also hosted a casino night that raised $305 for the SeriousFun Children's Network. Our chapter has kept a strong academic record throughout the past year, achieving a GPA of 3.6 last fall and 3.64 this past spring, which earned us sixth place out of 28 chapters in the Interfraternity Council and 13th out of all 52 chapters in Cornell Greek life. Our brothers are not only committed to their academic studies but are also involved in many service organizations and extracurricular activities on and off campus. President James Ramos '22 is currently working as a firefighter, an EMT, a volunteer at Cayuga Medical Center, and a student researcher at Selvaraj Laboratory of Integrative Physiology. He has also interned at Cleveland Clinic over the summer. Social Chairman Arnav Kamulkar '23, a hotel administration major, designed a tasting menu and opened a pop-up restaurant in Ithaca called CENA, which serves gourmet meals to brothers, alumni, and friends. Mihir Ranjan '22 and Jonathan Henry '23 are involved in the Cornell percussion ensemble and recently collaborated with associate Shiv Goel on a successful chamber and symphony concert in Bailey Hall. Our brothers have also held leadership positions in several pre-professional fraternities, such as Phi Chi Theta and Phi Gamma Nu business fraternities and Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. They are also active on athletic fields, with members competing for the Cornell Sprint Football team, Club Baseball team, Club Fencing team, and Alpine Ski team. Thank you for continuing to support us as we strive to achieve our goals and make Alpha Tau Chapter the best it can be.
