Fall 2023 A L P H A E P S I L O N P H I A T T H E U N I V E R S I T Y O F I L L I N O I S Mu Chapter Strand of Pearls Mu Chapter Strand of Pearls W e are nearing the end of the fall semester and are proud to share that 33 wonderful women were initiated into Alpha Epsilon Phi. The chapter had a successful formal recruitment and has fully embraced Continuous Open Bidding while recruiting new members through informal recruitment events. With the consistent efforts of VP Operations Katie Keeley '25, House Corporation has been actively working to fill the chapter house with 54 live-in members for the 2024-25 school year. It has been several years since the house has been at capacity, and we must meet this benchmark every year. We hope to be able to resume further redecorating of the house once it is consistently filled. Alumnae donations via our annual campaign have allowed us to proceed with projects like the third-floor bathroom, and we sincerely appreciate your investment in Mu Chapter! Though we will no longer be publishing this alumnae newsletter, look for us to update you via other methods as we continue to invest in a bright future for Mu Chapter! LML, Andrea Cronig Mindell '79 amindell@live.com T he school year began with a Work Week at the end of August, where Vice President of Recruitment Megan Knowski '25, the recruitment executive board, and I prepared our members for a very successful formal recruitment. These efforts kicked off the 2023-24 school year, which continued with an unexpectedly high number of new members. Through Continuous Open Bidding, we then added eight more women to our chapter. Later in the semester, members enjoyed hosting our annual Philanthropy Dinner and Sport led by our fearless vice president of philanthropy, Rebecca Millard '25. Our dinner, "AEPHIve Guys," took place at the chapter house, where we served burgers and fries for friends of the house, Panhellenic Council members, and family members who came to join. We also took advantage of the busy Jewish holiday schedule and educated our non-Jewish members as we celebrated with our Jewish sisters. We had a Candy Sukka-making session where the campus Hillel instructed the meaning behind the holiday and how making Sukkas is a mitzvah. We also participated in two challah bakes—one with Hillel and one with the Chabad on campus. Later that week, we held our annual Pink Shabbat at Chabad, where we raised awareness for Sharsheret, a nonprofit organization that supports Jewish women diagnosed with breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Overall, Alpha Epsilon Phi Mu Chapter has had an incredibly successful fall, with many thanks due to our executive board and entire advisory board for all their support and guidance. We hope to continue the upward trend and look forward to taking our alumnae along for the ride! LML, Joslyn Gange '25 Chapter President Our seniors enjoy their last Bid Day, "On Cloud 904."
