THE CRIMSON CRESCENT 2 T he 2023-24 school year is off to a successful start, with Gamma Phi pledging 141 new members during primary recruitment and successfully mee ng the Panhellenic quota of 132. Our new class includes nine legacies and represents 32 states! New Jersey is our most represented state, with 18 new members and 44 total members. We also have seven new members from Alabama, with two being from Tuscaloosa! Charlo e Apfelbaum '20 served as Head Sigma Rho Chi for Alabama Panhellenic. During Work Week, members enjoyed an AHC-provided visit from the Blenz Bowls food truck as well as a catered meal from Taco Mama for house residents. The chapter achieved a 3.36 GPA this spring, an increase from spring 2022's 3.24. Sixty-eight members earned a spot on the president's list with a GPA of 4.0, and 124 were on the dean's list with a 3.5 or above. Many of our members have impressive summer internships under their belts as well. Claire Halpin '20, who is the vice president of Culverhouse Real Estate Society, worked for Camden Property Trust, one of the na on's largest mul family property management companies. Addi onally, Lauren Bleszinski '21 interned with NBCUniversal for news outlets NBCLA and Telemundo52 this summer. She hopes to use this experience to one day work as a White House correspondent or an anchor for a major news outlet. We're proud of the work our sisters are doing to set themselves up for success! Members have had a fantastic time participating in all the activities that come with fall semester. Football season kicked off with a big win over Middle Tennessee, and senior Livi Thomas '21 kicked off her fourth year on the field as a Crimsonette. Livi is co-captain and was recognized at tryouts for her outstanding choreography and showmanship. The Homecoming theme this year was "The Future Is Crimson," and our new members got to experience the excitement of pomping, the choreography competition, and a (very early!) Homecoming parade. We've also had a blast at swaps, Family Weekend, and Grilling for GOTR, a philanthropy event that we co-hosted with Delta Tau Delta. We're looking forward to the excitement of the spring semester, including Parents' Weekend, Honors Week, senior celebrations, and of course graduation! CHAPTER VISION: "We want to continue to flourish and make a conscious effort to return to all our pre-COVID practices. We want to see better retention and an increase in growth, continuing to recruit members who will uphold and protect our values." 2023 AHC BOARD AHC President Addie Bunn Shake '10 AHC Vice Presidents Hannah Weiss '13 Audrey Herndon '14 AHC Treasurer Ellie Smotherman Taylor '92 AHC Secretary Caitlin Heinkel '12 AHC Members Haley Adams '14 Alexa Campbell Crawford '14 Amanda Giliber '16 Adrienne Favret '22 and Lauren Misciagna '22 during Work Week.
