"I think Gamma Phi Beta chose me just as much as I chose them," Crissy Buchanan Carlisle '91 said about joining the then-new sorority at The University of Alabama. As a sophomore, she moved into the house, living there for three years and making some of her fondest memories. She recalls one special tradi on she had with some of her closest friends. "The Sunday a er Thanksgiving, we would pile in our room and watch Christmas Vaca on and just laugh and pause the movie and go back to look at the funniest parts. Today, the Sunday a er Thanksgiving, my husband and I watch Christmas Vaca on." As a collegian, Crissy served as member educa on vice president and then administra ve vice president, both of which provided leadership and consensus-building skills that have helped throughout her career. Working in the male-dominated financial field has been challenging for Crissy, but it has also been rewarding. In her first role, she was named a Pricewaterhouse Scholar and received a scholarship to obtain her MBA. While maintaining her full- me job, she a ended Duke's execu ve MBA program on weekends for two years. In 2021, Crissy was named CFO of Enhabit Home Health and Hospice. While she is proud to be one of the few women who have reached this level, there is also a lot of pressure associated with it. "Do I put more pressure on myself being a woman in that role because there's so few of us? Maybe. But I think it's also rewarding when you go to an investor conference or a mee ng and you look around the room and realize you're the only woman there. You say, 'Okay, I've done it, I've broken that ceiling. How do I get other women here with me?'" Outside of her career, Crissy remains involved with Gamma Phi. "I firmly believe that when you're ini ated into Gamma Phi Beta, you're not ini ated for four years—you're ini ated for a life me. I received the leadership opportuni es and experiences that helped me get my first job and excel at it and put me in the posi on where I am now. Because of that, I want to give back." Crissy serves as a vice president on Gamma Phi Beta's Interna onal Council. She also serves as vice chair of the council and is the chairwoman of the Audit and Finance Commi ee. This spring, Crissy was recognized by The University of Alabama with the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award for her professional and philanthropic involvement. Crissy met her husband, Mark, at a GPhi and Phi Kappa Psi swap in college. Their son, Nicholas, is a sophomore at the University of Tennessee and a member of FarmHouse. Her family has been suppor ve throughout her career, and Crissy is especially proud of her son who grew up with a working mom and has demonstrated a true respect for women and all they can achieve. In her free me, Crissy likes cooking, entertaining, and doing group exercise classes. She and her family also love exploring the world together.
