Building a New Legacy Undergraduates Share Optimism for Future of Oregon Beta O regon Beta's return to campus is an opportunity for new beginnings and a reminder of SigEp's importance to Greek life. This rechartering signals a new era of brotherhood as young men prepare to immerse themselves in the timeless traditions and camaraderie SigEp has to offer. To capture the essence of this revitalization, Joey Barbey '26 and Ian Osnes '26 shared their thoughts on joining SigEp and paving the way for the future of brotherhood. The Right Choice "The culture here at UO involving Greek life is in need of immediate change in too many ways to count," Joey said. He appreciates SigEp for being the only vocally non-pledging and non- hazing Fraternity on campus, along with programming that promotes personal growth through every year of college. Ian shared a similar sentiment while praising the authenticity of the brotherhood. "There was no point throughout my whole recruitment process where I felt like I had to put on a persona and act like someone I wasn't." Through the alumni career mentoring program and building bonds with founding fathers, Joey and Ian are excited about their professional development through SigEp. Rechartering Efforts Joey and Ian are honored to be amongst members leading the way for Oregon Beta's return, building the Fraternity from the ground up. As the first founding fathers to accept his bid, Joey stands at the forefront of fraternal growth. "The thing that excites me most about the future of SigEp at UO is seeing how excited people get when I mention we are coming back to campus," Ian shared. While he originally wasn't interested in Fraternities, the unique dynamic of rebuilding SigEp has shown Ian a completely different side of Greek life. Oregon Beta's return offers plenty of opportunities for growth and connection throughout the campus community. Joey looks forward to seeing how the Fraternity can benefit student government and fellow organizations. Inspiring New Members SigEp's unique Fraternity experience provides students a chance to grow as Balanced Men while forming genuine connections with newfound brothers. Ian highlighted the Fraternity's emphasis on inclusivity, allowing members to become the best versions of themselves in college and beyond. As Joey says: "I hope everyone seizes the opportunity in front of them to be a better man." You can connect with Ian at ianosnes@gmail.com and Joey at joeybarbey@icloud.com. Page 3 58th SigEp Conclave Exceeds All Expectations WILL YOU BE THERE NEXT YEAR? A s I packed my bags for the 58th Grand Chapter Conclave in San Antonio, Texas, I found myself moved by the significance of what I was about to do. While I couldn't anticipate every facet of what lay ahead, I was certain it would provide invaluable insights into the profound meaning that Sigma Phi Epsilon holds for our brothers. In my life, there have been few instances where an event has surpassed my expectations as spectacularly as this year's Conclave did. From my first encounter with the Ritual Ceremony since my graduation back in 1997 to the candid and, at times, emotionally charged discussions surrounding the challenges our young brothers encounter in their daily lives, I felt privileged to be a part of this resilient brotherhood. This marked my first Conclave experience, and it will certainly not be my last. Who wants to join me in Tampa, Florida, in 2025 for the 59th? Fraternally, Ian Schray '97 Our representatives enjoyed their trip to Grand Chapter Conclave! I am looking forward to being part of that history." –Ian Osnes '26 "I am a builder, and I love seeing the potential and idea of building something from the ground up come to fruition." –Joey Barbey '26
