Giving Back and Spending Time with Our Community P H I L A N T H R O P I C F U N Thank you to our outgoing Chapter Council for serving our wonderful sisterhood. E ach year, Kappa Delta hosts the Shamrock Run 5K during Parents' Weekend to raise funds for Prevent Child Abuse America, Child Abuse Prevention Services of Tuscaloosa, and Children's Trust Fund of Alabama. The 2023 Shamrock Run raised $102,500 for the prevention of child abuse, which we are very proud of as a Chapter! These funds help aid the beneficiaries with necessary resources, staffing, and education. My favorite part of the run is being able to share the festivities with our local philanthropies. Local Girl Scout troops sell cookies at the KΔ house during the run, which is always a big hit. We also have students from Crossing Points cheer on the runners and pass out water along the race route. It is so rewarding to raise funds for a great cause while also spending time with friends, family, and our local philanthropies. In addition to participating in race day activities, we also host numerous events with Crossing Points throughout the year. Crossing Points is a UA program for college-aged students with disabilities. Our favorite service event of the year is hosting a prom for the Crossing Points students. They have a blast dressing up, riding in a limo, and dancing all night. It is so great for our Chapter to celebrate such a wonderful group of students.
