T h e EACON Fall 2023 B A L P H A T A U O M E G A • D E L T A K A P P A C H A P T E R Reconnect, Reminisce, Revitalize Reconnect, Reminisce, Revitalize Alumni Event Overview I t has been an exciting year for the Delta Kappa Alumni Association. We find ourselves once again in the middle of fall—a season that holds a special place in the hearts of Sooners everywhere. In this time of change and reflection, we are thankful to be able to highlight the return of two major events. We are very appreciative of your continued support, as neither of these would have been successful without you! FOUNDER'S DAY: CELEBRATING 102 YEARS OF DELTA KAPPA AT OU We are proud to celebrate over a century of achievements, growth, and lasting impact at the University of Oklahoma! This year's celebration was an exciting event that brought together both undergraduates and alumni from different eras to reminisce, reconnect, and inspire future generations. In talking with some of the current members, I found myself inspired by their aspirations to continue a legacy that each alumnus of Delta Kappa has contributed to. The almost 200 in attendance were treated to an evening that consisted of a happy hour, dinner, and a handful of guest speakers, including Chapter President John Noel '20. The highlight of the night was a fireside chat, moderated by James Benson '07, with a few prominent alumni who have all been instrumental in taking Delta Kappa to new heights. Greg Hall '70, Michael Junk '07, and William Moon '11 each became brothers in a different decade, so they were able to bring unique perspectives on what ATΩ means to them. The chapter is strongest when undergraduates and alumni are working together to make ATΩ more than just something one does for a few years in college. I hope that all who attended were able to take away something positive from shared memories! DELTA KAPPA ALUMNI AND FRIENDS GOLF TOURNAMENT This annual event is back and better than ever! Fellow alumni, friends, and supporters came out for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie on the greens. This year, lunch was served at the course so brothers could share stories and reunite with one another over a meal. The day was an excellent opportunity to network, have fun, and support the Alumni Association's initiatives. TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS Date: April 21, 2023 Location: Lake Hefner Golf Club Format: Scramble Winning Team: Scott Armstrong '08, Bob Purgason '75, Ryan Cunningham '14, and Brian Merrion '08 Registration details for the 2024 tournament will be sent out early next year—be sure to keep an eye on your inbox so you can save the date for this fantastic event. JOIN US AT A TAILGATE! We have two more tailgates planned this fall and would love to have you join us! You're invited to the chapter house three hours before kickoff on October 21 (Homecoming) for the UCF game and November 11 for the WVU game. As always, we enjoy hearing from you and welcome any updates or pictures you might have with fellow members of Delta Kappa. Wishing you all the best as we head into the final few months of the year. Let's hope the Sooners can keep it rolling. Fraternally, John Esche '08 Alumni Association President ouatoalumni@yahoo.com Members and alumni gather to discuss growth, career advice, and the future of Delta Kappa at Founder's Day. Aaron Arsala '22, Zach Zvonecek '21, and Owen Hollaway '22 celebrate Founder's Day 2023.
