2 The WISE OLD OWL Chapter Goals Make improvements to the Chapter House through regular cleanings. Boost alumni engagement through active communication. Gain on our recent successes with Derby Days. E psilon Kappa enjoyed an excellent 2022-23 academic year! We are proud to share our recent accomplishments with you. SIGMA CHI STANDS OUT We are thrilled to announce we received the Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award. Additionally, we received the Civic Engagement Pillar of Excellence Award and the Leadership Development Pillar of Excellence Award. On top of those accomplishments, I was also awarded Risk Manager of the Year. We are grateful for each award and strive to build on the momentum last year's executive board started. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE We were able to boost our GPA from a 3.28 in the fall to a 3.39 in the spring. These academic successes help us build a more respected and award-winning Chapter. We are proud that 25 brothers earned a place on the dean's list and 10 achieved a perfect 4.0 last semester. ALWAYS GIVING BACK Our philanthropic involvement did not waiver, either. Former Consul Carson Kane '24 and former Philanthropy Chairman Alex Nelson '25 led the Chapter in raising more than $5,000 worth of new toys for Le Bonheur Club at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. They also led the Chapter in donating 600 cans to the Memphis Food Bank. After our hard work in planning Derby Days, led by Braden Grove '23 and the Derby Days Committee, we raised over $37,000 for the Special Olympics of Greater Memphis. This brings our total to over $82,000 in the past two years! It is an incredible accomplishment that we all can be proud of. Thank you to our many generous donors and sponsors. This truly could not have been done without your help. Also, thank you to everyone who helped in any way throughout this process. More to come this year, and planning has already started! GETTING INVOLVED Epsilon Kappa is invested in the advancement of the University of Memphis and has brothers serving in all areas of the university. To name a few: Raphael Jamias '25 serves as a senator at large for the Student Government Association; Wes Bolton '26 serves as a tour guide for potential new students; Jonas Kannady '26 represents Sigma Chi as vice president of finance on the IFC Board; James Strickland '24 serves as chief justice on the IFC Board; and Seth Khokhar '25 serves on the Student Ambassador Board for the University Alumni Association and the Office of the President. Many other brothers are also involved in clubs and a variety of organizations. We are proud of our active involvement on campus. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT We strive to build and mold leaders at Epsilon Kappa. That is why we attended the Krach Transformational Leadership Workshop in Bowling Green, Ohio, in July. We sent seven of our executive committee members to attend and learn about leadership development. The committee is looking forward to implementing these skills into their work in Epsilon Kappa.
