Andrew Carroll '23 and Henry Carlson '25 both take one for the team at our Pie-A-Deke fundraiser during Spring Fling 2023—thank you, brothers! 2 Delta Kappa Epsilon F or the first time in over three years, Gamma Phi is at full strength thanks to Chris Guttman '23, his executive board, and many alumni for their repeated support through it all. With that, it is fair to say this brotherhood could not be more excited to flourish on Wesleyan's campus again. Though there will always be some who will reminisce about what Gamma Phi was—these new Dekes are focused on trailblazing what can and will be our brotherhood's influence on campus. SPRING ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC SUCCESS Wesleyan baseball finished 16-17 on the year and hosted Bowdoin in the first round of NESCAC playoffs. Despite falling 2-1 on the series, multiple Dekes had huge contributions on and off the field last season. Cole Torino '24, Matt Halas '24, Luke LaSaracina '25, and Tyler Cosgrove '25 all finished in the top five in batting average, hits, home runs, and RBIs. Beyond the diamond, these brothers were selected for the Spring NESCAC All-Academic Team: Luke LaSaracina, Mario Lee '25, Tyler Cosgrove, Matt Halas, and Graham Gilchrist '23. To top it off, senior Graham Gilchrist was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, one of NESCAC's biggest honors. In addition, our chapter had over 15 student-athletes selected for Wesleyan's Spring Scholar-Athlete Ceremony, which rewards student excellence both on the field and in the classroom. FALL PHILANTHROPY This fall, we plan to join and host multiple events to keep up with DKE's initiatives, thanks to incredible preparation from Will Aaronson '25. First, we will attend and donate to Team Impact's annual 5K. On Veterans Day, we will run a "Hoops for Troops" tournament, donating all proceeds to a veterans charity of our choice. We will also volunteer at the local MacDonough school, helping daily with recess as we did last spring. The semester will end with canned food and toy drives for Middletown's in-need community members. READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL Wesleyan football's offense, ranked second in passing last season, is primed to build off last year's successes. Niko Candido '25 is looking to lead the charge at Quarterback for the Cardinals. Candido appeared alongside Ashton Scott '22.5 and David Estevez '22.5 in 2022, throwing for over 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns. On the offensive line, Liam Reardon '24 and Ryan Caserta '25 return to play center and tackle, respectively. Will Aaronson and Mario Lee also look to be key contributors on the offensive line, while Ricky Eng '25 and Will Livingston '25 look to help Candido's air attack. The defensive line features not only team captain Colton Weier '24 but also 2022 All-NESCAC second-team tackle Mike Rowan '25. Pat Boujokos '24 will play alongside Rowan in the interior, and Joe Schaefer '24 and Ben Carbeau '25 return for the Cardinals as linebackers. The Cardinals look to compete for a NESCAC championship and win their third Little Three championship in four seasons. SAVE THE DATE ALUMNI! This year, we are wasting no time hosting our first alumni event on October 28, Homecoming weekend, as Wesleyan football battles Little Three rivals Amherst at Corwin Stadium. On behalf of the entire fraternity, we cannot wait to meet the special group of individuals who made our brotherhood possible.
