Honored to Serve Alpha Nu Last fall, Beta families and friends came forward to support Charlie Goree '25 after the passing of his mother. A scholarship was established for Charlie's benefit through the Alpha Nu Educational Foundation and thousands of dollars in donations were raised by Alpha Nu friends and family. Our hearts continue to go out to him and his family. As we shared in our recent issue of Alpha Nu's Letter, we have developed a new operating plan independent of the University of Kansas. As we focus on creating the best possible future for Alpha Nu, we have recognized the need to expand our self-governance capabilities and have recently enhanced our support structure. This includes a new advisory council that consists of representatives of Alpha Nu parents, the General Fraternity, and two faculty members at KU. Jana Fitchett is one of the faculty members who has joined us as we journey down this new path. J ana has worked on campus for 17 years in the entrepreneurship and management departments. During her time at the university, she has gotten to know several of the Beta brothers and has been impressed by the caliber of the men. "They are intelligent, hard-working, and have very high integrity," she shared. "I wanted the opportunity to be able to spend more time with them and help them with anything they need." Jana is honored to be a part of the Alpha Nu Advisory Council and is looking forward to serving. As an advisor, she looks forward to helping the executive board and hopes that her objective opinions, as well as her experience working in various leadership positions, including as a previous owner of her own business, will help bring new ideas. Jana also plans to be a constant resource to the Betas to help them with their personal and academic growth. In addition, she aims to share opportunities outside of the classroom environment on an ongoing basis, such as study abroad opportunities, unique leadership programs, and other programs for growth. As Alpha Nu operates independently, Jana is confident that based on the level of men in the organization and their attitude toward the community, the chapter will continue its stellar reputation. "They hold each other accountable and want the best not only for Beta but also for the community and for each other."
