My favorite season of the year is the fall. To me, this time of year always feels like the new year. It's time for new beginnings and ever-changing circumstances. Almost 200 Guests for Lunch! We had so much to do this summer at 667 W. 28 th Street. e week after USC graduation and the chapter house closed for summer break, our staff, volunteers, and Mom Ann worked to prepare for the 50 th Anniversary Luncheon on May 23. When the day finally came, the chapter house was filled with almost 200 smiling faces meeting new friends and catching up with old, including five decades of pledge classes represented. Chef Walter's lunch was incredible, the silent auction items were a hit, and the flowers were beautiful thanks to Laurie Bayless Maslauski '73 and her floral design company, Le Lis! anks as well to Jill Cooper McDermott '97 and Robin Greenway MacGillivray '73 for organizing the event. We couldn't have pulled it off without you! Getting Straight to Work on Projects After the event, we got right to work by: • Finishing casings around all the doors and adding moldings on original doors on the second and third floors. • Painting the exterior and changing the shutters and front door to midnight blue. • Changing out all the roman shades on the second and third floors. • Changing out carpet in the living room and replacing carpet on the stairs. Since our house was built, we have had one set of washers and dryers on each floor. Our construction manager, Charlie, figured out a way to put two stacked washers and dryers on each floor instead! e live-in members are very excited about this update. Counting Our Blessings e night before our alumnae event, I stayed in our chapter house for the first time since I graduated. It was such a magical moment falling asleep and questioning my college self: did I realize how special a place it was that I called home while at USC? Not many people can say they lived in a Paul Williams home! During my recruitment, I liked all the women in each house; it finally came down to which of the chapters I liked most, and as soon as I stepped into Pi Phi, I fell in love with our home. It was the fall after the 1984 Summer Olympics, and a corporation had leased our house for their executives (and as a gift to Pi Phi, they decorated our downstairs living area). To answer my earlier question: yes! Our house brought me more than just a beautiful home. It brought me lasting friendships and opened my eyes to places and things I never thought possible. We all were so fortunate to end up at 667 W. 28 th Street. How did we get so lucky? Collegians and alumnae of all ages, enjoy every moment you spend at our home. Pi Phi is worth it!
