Thank You, Early Donors We Hope to See Many More Names as Our Campaign Begins! A s chairman of Our Home, Our Future – The Campaign for Theta Omega, Dana Hale Nelson '73 is excited for several reasons. She can't wait for alumnae to see the design of the new chapter house and is ready to help create a legacy at Theta Omega for years to come. Most important, she's excited to help future sisters. Dana came to KU seeking a well-balanced sisterhood with diverse talents. Some alumnae and sisters from her hometown encouraged her to look at Tri Delta; there, she found sincere people who cared about their grades, relationships with one another, and philanthropy. It was exactly what Dana was looking for. There was always fun to be had at Tri Delta from pledge class walkouts to spring break road trips. Dana and her pledge sisters still enjoy getting together at least once a year! Tri Delta also gave Dana the courage to explore new things, both in her field of study and in her future endeavors as a volunteer and philanthropist. After graduating with a journalism degree, Dana returned to KU for her MBA; this proved to be quite helpful professionally. Today, Dana and her husband live in Mission Hills, Kansas, and are in the business of sustainably growing and marketing ancient grains from Europe and Africa. Dana has also worked with many not-for-profits over the years, especially ones in new and emerging areas. She likens her passion for these fields to her excitement for this new campaign: "This is all new to us, and it's a wonderful opportunity for Theta Omega Chapter." When it comes to giving, Dana encourages fellow alumnae not to worry too much about the size. "Any donation will be important," she said. "If it's important to you to support the chapter, then you're giving that much more; every bit of it supports this chapter house." "This new home is a game-changer," Dana added. "With this campaign, we can provide the most modern amenities. We can give students the flexibility of a large living situation with private, personal spaces as well. I think this can only improve our stature on campus as a sorority that is well worth considering." As the campaign begins, Dana looks forward to sharing the Chapter House plans with as many Tri Delta women as possible. "Even if they're not able to give, I think they will be very excited and proud—proud of this house, of how supportive our alumnae and Tri Delta's Foundation have been, and of what this will mean for the young ladies of Theta Omega." Dana has three daughters (one a Tri Delta and two in other sororities), three grandchildren, and one more grandchild on the way. She enjoys time with them as well as golf, needlework, and cooking.
