T he spring 2023 semester proved to be a massive learning curve for our executive board. As a team, we have managed to execute, recruit, develop, and build Balanced Men. Words do no justice in expressing how proud I am of our team. They sacrificed, stressed, and gave their all to build NJ Beta. Without these men, this chapter would not have seen the growth it has. Each has sworn and proven that they will make NJ Beta proud. This spring, our chapter placed third in the IFC futsal indoor soccer competition. We also secured a 3.1 GPA, which is in the top percentile at Rutgers. For philanthropy, we participated in the Rutgers Dance Marathon to raise money for Feed The Kids. We also participated in Running 4 Answers: A Race against Alzheimer's, raising over $500 for the cause. We successfully executed a brotherhood barbecue, bonfire, a BMS banquet dinner, and a SigEp formal. In all, we have successfully built a brotherhood—one that consists of strong bonds, a supportive environment, and a burning love for all members. We restructured all aspects of executive board requirements, maintained consistency in events, and proved that we are a force to be reckoned with on campus. Every brother has proven himself to be worthy of living the life of a Balanced Man. Displaying our cardinal values day in and day out, they give our chapter the opportunity to achieve greatness. While much work still lies ahead for us, I could not be more confident in the team I am surrounded by. My brothers have proven how far they will go for one another and how far they will go to be different. This year will be ours. Fraternally, Brandon Hernandez '24, Chapter President RUTGERS UNIVERSITY FALL 2023 The Raritanian T he NJ Beta AVC welcomes all alumni and friends to our newest issue of The Raritanian and the NEW ERA of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Rutgers University. It is my honor to represent the AVC as president. Many aspects of my life revolve around SigEp; I hope you all feel the same way. The AVC is the backbone of the chapter, and without the support of the entire group (including hundreds of NJ Beta alumni), our chapter would not be able to operate. As some of you know, our chapter at Rutgers was dormant for about six years. In the fall of 2021, we were able to start the process of bringing it back. Now, with the help of many volunteers, as well as staff from Headquarters, the undergraduate chapter is well on its way to earning a charter in spring 2024. They are truly building a solid chapter of Balanced Men, 40 strong. The next few years will prove to be exciting times for our chapter. We expect it to double in size, maintain a solid GPA, and participate in all aspects of Greek life. The AVC has provided our new brothers with the resources necessary to accomplish their goals. They have been able to recruit quality members, maintain fiscal responsibility, develop leadership skills, and participate in all the programming provided by our National HQ; these include the Carlson and Ruck Leadership Academies as well as National Conclave. We have very lofty goals and would expect nothing but excellence. Our brothers are participating in Keller Cup, many philanthropy events on campus, and they (of course) have a great social calendar. The AVC would like to thank everyone who has been here for us as we start the new SigEp chapter at Rutgers University. Fraternally, Michael Schnur '87 AVC President Our executive board takes on Carlson Leadership Academy! It was a great experience to meet and talk to other chapters across the northeast. We learned much through this experience, and we're proud to apply our knowledge throughout the semester. Thank you to all the great speakers and volunteers who made this event possible.
