THE MU MUSE Fall 2023 For active and alumni members of The Sigma Chi Fraternity at West Virginia University With a little over $500,000 left to go, we are confident that if more brothers come together, we can reach this milestone in no time. We made it to 15% participation, but we know we can do better. As members of Sigma Chi, we Expect More. Let's get to 20%! The Campaign for Mu Mu FOR NORTH HIGH Help Us Reach the FINISH LINE LET'S DO OUR PART TO CREATE THE BEST FUTURE FOR MU MU T he summer flew by as we continued to make progress at 700 N. High! In the weeks prior to the start of school, we completed significant work and continued planning for our next large projects. As we build the best future for Mu Mu, we are proud of all we've accomplished and look forward to seeing our vision unfold throughout the year. As previously shared, earlier this year we: • Replaced the roof. • Installed new dormers and windows on the second and third floors. • Gutted the former Housemother's suite for new restrooms and the expansion of the former chapter room into a library and study space later in 2023 or 2024. • Removed basement ceiling tiles. WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO? Since our last update, a new HVAC system has been installed throughout the house! Major electrical upgrades and additional transformers were also installed to support and sustain the three-phase power and mini-splits for the A/C, including the pouring of new concrete pads near the rear second-floor entrance to hold new condensers and compressors. In addition, the two doors in the living room that led to the back patio have been replaced with two windows, and new brickwork has been done on the outside. The carpet has been removed and will be replaced with high-quality vinyl plank. Lastly, we have purchased new furniture that should suffice until we are near completion of the project and ready for a full upgrade of that space. The French doors to the side porch should be replaced by Labor Day. I want to first acknowledge the brothers who have been working so hard to ensure everything runs smoothly. These brothers have spent almost every day this summer at the house, running around town, and working with our stakeholders. They have been key to the success of this project thus far, and I am grateful for their dedication to our brotherhood. HAVE YOU DONE YOUR PART? Of course, this dream is only becoming a reality through the commitment of our alumni to 700 North High: The Campaign for Mu Mu. To date, 196 brothers have contributed more than $1.4 million toward our $2 million goal. Thank you for your generous support! Take a moment to think about the impact Sigma Chi and Mu Mu Chapter have had on your life. A large part of who you are today stems from the time you spent in the chapter house during your undergraduate years, forging lifelong friendships and memories, becoming leaders, and gaining valuable knowledge. Now as alumni, we must do our part to provide for the future generations of brothers who walk through this house, ready for the transformational experience ahead. To the brothers who have not yet joined our efforts, we can assure you that your gift will make a difference at Mu Mu for years to come. To the 196 brothers who have already donated, we greatly appreciate your support and would welcome an additional contribution to bring us closer to this next chapter of our brotherhood. Let's work together to reach the finish line! Fraternally, Paul Buechler '78 House Corporation President paulraft@gmail.com New windows replacing doors in the living room.
