HOUSE BOARD UPDATE From the House Director Gwen Larson will begin her new posi on as Theta Chapter House Director this July. Gwen comes to Theta Chapter from the Alpha Chi Omega house at the University of Missouri. Prior to that she was a house director at Alpha Omicron Pi at Iowa State University. For over 30 years Gwen taught in the Shawnee Mission School District as a music teacher. Gwen also ran her own photography studio in the Kansas City area for over 10 years. Her desire to start a new life in a different city brought her to the world of being a sorority house director. Gwen describes herself as very crea ve, caring and maternal. She is outgoing and approachable and keeps an open door policy as a house director. She welcomes visitors and enjoys fostering rela onships with the sorority residents, whom she fondly refers to as "her girls." Communica on is extremely important to Gwen, as is safety and mental health. Gwen is a proud parent to two grown and very successful children and a grandparent to two grandchildren. She is an accomplished pianist and looks forward to playing our beau ful Steinway that was recently refurbished thanks to a gi from Virginia and Norm Stewart. We warmly welcome Gwen to our Kappa family. Starting a New Chapter It is with sadness that we say good- bye to Julie Criss, the 2022-23 House Director. An unexpected change of plans has brought this about, and Julie will leave when her contract ends on June 30. Julie and the House Board accom- plished many projects, which Julie enthusiastically arranged and sup- ported. A few included the addition of filtered water spigots on each floor and filtered water in the kitchenette. The house WiFi was dramatically upgraded over the Christmas break. Remember the old Mail Room? It is now the "Package Closet" with a sorter for the small amount of mail the girls receive and alphabetized bins for the 20-30 packages that arrive every day. Please help us connect with these Kappa Sisters! We recently learned that the "lost list" sent previously with a Bio Update form was meant for alumnae of another Kappa chapter. Please visit the link below for Theta Chapter's list, then follow the instruc ons to update an address and/or email. https://tinyurl.com/ThetaChapterLostSisters Julie expresses her feelings best. "This past year at KKG and Mizzou has been nothing short of wonderful. Being back in Columbia and at my alma mater have been both nostalgic and bittersweet. I have loved the girls as they are such beau- tiful, thoughtful, intelligent, responsible and kind young women. They welcomed Henry [her dog] and me with open arms. I will hate to leave these women and this house, but the memories will remain for- ever. Thank you to the House Board and for all the alumnae support. Your house is beautiful and its traditions remain strong. I hope a football game or two will be in my future. M-I-Z…Z-O-U!"
