TAU TALK ALPHA TAU OMEGA AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY SPRING 2023 Connect with Gamma Upsilon Online! Brothers celebrate an exciting victory after an intramural football game. Brothers capture a family photo with the dog they named Tau after raising $2,500 to support the Puppy Jake Foundation. Brothers wear green in October to support Green Dot, a campus-wide program that empowers participants to act when interpersonal, power- based violence occurs on campus. From left: Matthew Paul '20, Cameron Letteri '20, Jason Langevin '20, Joey Mikulec '21, Jesse Boland '20, and Colbey Olson '20 are excited for the annual Blue Sky 5K, which benefits Lutheran Services of Iowa. EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS Gamma Upsilon has had an excellent year so far; many of our goals are being accomplished. We are continuing our recent success with recruitment, service to the community, and philanthropic endeavors. We have exceeded expectations for our members' dedication to Homecoming and Greek Week. Last semester, our chapter had an overall GPA of 3.16, placing us seventh overall among fraternities on campus. We strive to continue these accomplishments for the rest of the semester and for years to come. GIVING BACK Last fall, Jordan Seifriz '21 hosted ATĪ© Harvest to support ACCESS, an assault care center in Ames. At the event, we served donuts and apple cider. We also had a dunk tank where visitors could purchase the chance to dunk a Tau. It was a hit, and we raised $2,500. This spring, Michael Ellingson '22 hosted our fourth annual Cones and Bones philanthropy event to support the Puppy Jake Foundation, an organization that helps veterans with service dogs. We served ice cream and snow cones, and everyone had a great time. CONTINUING TO GROW We added 33 new members last fall. Our new recruitment chairmen, Chase Boelling '22 and Josh Painter '22, worked diligently over the winter to initiate six new members this spring. They have high expectations for the fall 2023 class and have already started recruiting. BRINGING HOME THE HARDWARE Last semester, we were paired with Alpha Phi for Homecoming and, together, tackled some challenging competitions. We took first place in Yell Like Hell, first place in the volleyball tournament, first place in community service, and first place overall for the first time in recent chapter history! We are all extremely proud of this accomplishment, and it could not have been possible without the participation of our entire chapter and Alpha Phi teammates. WE LOVE YOU, MOM Mom's Day this semester was a success. Mothers and their sons gathered at the house for a luncheon and drinks while we had a basket raffle raising over $5,000. The raffle supported ACCESS. We want to thank and show our appreciation for our moms and the family members who support us as we continue our education. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! Gamma Upsilon is extremely excited and eager to see what the rest of this semester and next year will bring. As always, we'd like to thank you for your continued support. Our doors are always open, so please stop by anytime you wish.
