T HE BE TA K A PPA BU FFA LO WINTER 2023 P H I G A M M A D E L T A | B E T A K A P P A | U N I V E R S I T Y O F C O L O R A D O O ver the years, Beta Kappa Chapter has been an integral part of Greek life at the University of Colorado, shaping its members through essential learning opportunities and providing them with a brotherhood for life. Phi Gamma Delta has been at the center of many of our favorite CU memories, and the experiences we had living or spending time in our Chapter House with our brothers greatly impacted our lives. Although we have faced obstacles in the past, since Fiji's recolonization in 2018, our young men have worked to rebuild Beta Kappa to its former glory. Today, the Chapter is thriving. Our brotherhood has grown to over 127 men, each of them a leader on campus. Academics has remained a priority in addition to philanthropy, and we are proud of our members' dedication to Fiji's continued success. With our undergraduate members exemplifying what it means to be a Fiji by embodying our core values and strengthening the brotherhood, there is something that would make their Fraternity experience complete—a permanent home for them to grow and connect. PROVIDING OUR BROTHERS WITH A HOME We are proud to announce the Boulder FIJI: Not for College Days Alone! capital campaign to provide our brothers with a new home at the University of Colorado. While our Chapter currently rents a small house on The Hill in addition to a 36-bed building, there is not adequate space for the entire Chapter to gather at once for meetings or ceremonies, which is essential for the Fraternity experience. It is critical for us to own a property on The Hill, as it will allow for increased exposure and proximity to Greek life and the CU campus. Housing Corporation President Dolf Kahle '89 has utilized his real estate connections in Boulder to identify properties before they are on the market. We are excited to relay we have identified the property at 1215 13 th Street with 17 bedrooms to sleep 34 men and a large meeting area that meets Beta Kappa's needs! In an ever-changing world, providing our brothers with a permanent, quality living environment at CU will ensure they have a place to continue to develop as leaders, strengthen their bonds with each other, and gain more skills that will benefit them long after they graduate. Purchasing a house now will also provide Beta Kappa with a foothold in the Boulder real estate market, ensuring an even stronger future for our Chapter. WILL YOU HELP SHAPE OUR FUTURE? Our goal to provide our brothers with a permanent home at CU can only be made possible with the support of our graduate brothers. We are in negotiations with the current owners of this $9 million property to renovate the existing building and seller finance the property if we are able to secure $3.5 million. The House Corporation has $2 million from the sale of the previous Chapter House. We need your help to raise the next $1.5 million. Any funds raised over $1.5 million will assist us in lowering the amount that will be financed. Thank you to the early supporters who have committed $449,600 toward our campaign. Your dedication to the future of our Fraternity has given us a great start, and we believe that when all graduate brothers come together, we can achieve anything. I encourage you to remember your own Fiji experience and how it gave you the opportunity to grow, connect and pass that on to your future brothers. We can assure you; that it will have an impact on their lives for years to come. In the coming weeks, you will receive additional information on this exciting project, the campaign, and ways in which you can join our growing list of loyal graduate brother supporters. Beta Kappa Chapter looks forward to its future success at CU—and it starts with our brothers. Will you join us? Perge!
