Owensby GodTalk Ministry seeks volunteers Ministry of hope at the Tehama County Juvenile Justice Center is calling for volunteers The rule of seven, an old marketing adage says "A prospect needs to see or hear your message at least seven times before they take action." In other words, it takes about seven visits with someone before they respond to what you are saying. A ministry at the Tehama County Juvenile Justice Center is looking for folks who are willing to do just that. Willing to take the message of God's love to young people who are in a difficult situation and need to know there is reason for hope. Ministry options vary; volunteer with the group who meets once a week at the First Church of God called Church on the Outs. This is a good way to start as you don't have to have a live scan to participate. They do have twelve full-time ministry slots available. These will need to be fingerprinted and background approved. Inside juvenile hall, they have the chance to program every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. We are looking for those willing to commit to six or more visits in a sixmonth period. This is not sink-or-swim proposition – you will be trained, coached and supported. The goal is to work in pairs, and there are several veteran volunteers to help lead the way. Connections created through this ministry can cause changes we cannot even begin to imagine, but it takes time to build rela- tionships. Young people are being bombarded with so much information these days; it is often hard to hear the important stuff. These kids need to hear the Good News, but as the bible asks: "…how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it?..." Romans 10:14. Are you one whom God can send? Doug Bauman (The Breadman), and JJC Chaplain Michael Druey are inviting anyone with a heart for hurting young people to find out more details about this ministry by contacting either one at Doug Bauman: 530 2283847, email: dangduck@yahoo.com or Michael Druey: 530 3840345, email: cherub@theskybeam.com. Fall sends televangelist Schuller to hospital ORANGE (AP) — Crystal Cathedral founder the Rev. Robert Schuller remains hospitalized after a fall at his California home but is recovering. Schuller's daughter, Carol Schuller Milner, said Thursday the 86-year-old televangelist was upbeat and joking with doctors after a fall early Saturday at his home in Orange. The family was initially concerned that Schuller, who had a heart attack in 1997, was suffering from heart failure but that was quickly ruled out. She says doctors are trying to determine the cause of a high lactic acid count. Schuller, the once-popular televangelist whose Crystal Cathedral was dedicated in 1980, resigned from the church's board in 2012, two years after the church filed for bankruptcy. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange bought the soaring, glass-paned cathedral in bankruptcy proceedings.
