O
ur new home was a transformation from our house
across the street on Old Row. Being able to secure our
rightful place across from Bryant-Denny Stadium while
providing a competitive, attractive, and sufficient home
were our main priorities. Now, 15 years later as our chapter
has continued to thrive and the functional use of our home
has changed, there are areas where we can improve and keep
DKE at the top of the fraternity system at UA. While we are
land locked and cannot compete on sleeping capacity, we
can capitalize on our best-in-class location.
The foremost change needed for our home is the expansion
of gathering and social spaces throughout. What we learned
as our chapter grew was that out-of-house brothers use our
house as much or more than our residents. Whether it's to
study, socialize, share meals, or attend chapter meetings, we
are literally busting at the seams trying to accommodate the
needs of the brotherhood. Psi has intentionally decreased
pledge classes the last three years to mitigate the issue. Add
to that alumni events, home football game days, and parents'
weekends—the need for greater gathering space is clear.
