PAGE 4 DELTA KAPPA EPSILON • PSI CHAPTER INDIVIDUAL • Jackson Borak '23 recently received the Henry M. Lipsey Heart of Service Award, which recognizes its recipient based on three criteria: goodwill, justice, and servant leadership. • Skipper Snypes '23, Forrest Roy '23, and William Lee '23 were recently inducted in the 109th Class of the Jasons Senior Men's Honorary. Members are recognized for their achievements and excellence in academics, campus involvement, service, and character. DKE had three of the 40 initiates this year. • William Lee '23 was also elected president of the 109th Jasons Class, adding him to the list of numerous DKEs who have held this title since the organization was founded by PSI's very own Lister Hill in 1914. • Seven of our members were inducted into the Order of Omega Honor Society. ON-CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT William Lee '23 and Jake McDonald '24, of the University Fellows Experience, were selected into cohorts of approximately 20 people within the Honors College to study social innovation, leadership, and impoverished communities, and they have the ability to facilitate research in any field of their choosing. UFE is considered the most exclusive program within the Honors College. Forrest Roy is an equity research analyst within the healthcare group of the Culverhouse Investment Management Group, a student-led, $1.7 million-value investing fund within the Culverhouse College of Business. This experience has helped land him a job at Truist as an investment banking analyst in Atlanta, Georgia. We continue to have members involved in the multiple facets of the council. DKEs highlight the Business School, and that dominance hasn't faded with four current members—Angus Cooper '23, Jay Barze '23, William Lee '23, and Jake McDonald '23—serving as Culverhouse Ambassadors. Psi has the president and Co-founder of the Alabama Wildlife Federation Capstone Chapter, vice president of the Delta Waterfowl Chapter, and many, many members in the Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Coastal Conservation Association Capstone Chapters. College students spend 70% of their time within their living environment (Brandon, Hirt, and Cameron, 2008). Additional research confirms the most important decisions made by a new student when they arrive on campus are the organizations they join and their living environment (Reynolds, 2007). More than 80% of college students deal with anxiety, and more than 60% also feel socially isolated/lonely and depressed (JED Foundation, 2020). Greek-affiliated students report higher positive mental health scores and lower levels of depression and anxiety (Biddix, Assalone, and Grace, 2020). Greek members show greater overall involvement and engagement on campus, in student organizations, and in the classroom. They report stronger learning gains and satisfaction with the college experience (Pike, 2020). WHY SHOULD WE INVEST IN A SAFE, CLEAN, AND ATTRACTIVE HOME FOR OUR BROTHERS?
