THE CORDELT BETA OMICRON CHAPTER OF DELTA TAU DELTA AT CORNELL UNIVER SI T Y FALL 2022 The fall 2022 pledge class unites for the first time to be inducted into the brotherhood. F all returned to the Finger Lakes, and with it came our first full-blown Homecoming celebration in three years. It was great to see brothers from across generations, including the current undergraduates, get to refresh the bonds of brotherhood. SHIFTS IN LEADERSHIP The House Corporation meeting was a time to thank Graham Seward '07 for his time as our House Corporation president and to usher in the Mike Bonacum '10 era. Many thanks to Graham for his leadership and support of the Our Home, Our Legacy capital campaign and for his continued leadership of the project work we are about to start. THE TIME IS NOW! Yes, you read that right! We have reached the point where we have enough commitments (almost $2.4 million in pledges to date from 186 alumni and counting) and cash on hand (with over $1.4 million collected) to begin the first set of projects to renovate and revitalize the Shelter. A request for proposal (RFP) has been initiated through Cornell for the design of key projects planned for the winter and summer of 2023. OUR FIRST PROJECTS Our projects for the winter will be to replace the grease trap and hot water heater (conversion to gas), which are small enough projects that we hope to get done over the winter break. Projects for the summer include the first- and second-floor main bathrooms, a new entrance canopy, creating a more welcoming and useful lobby/lounge/library area and, if funds allow, the first-floor women's room. This combination of projects, which we project will run between $1.3 to $1.5 million, are concentrated on the first level of the Shelter. This optimizes the time frame they can be completed in and takes advantage of the synergies in doing the work in the same part of the Shelter, which we believe will be more cost efficient. Stay tuned for more updates! WHAT'S TO COME As we embark on the first set of projects, it should not be lost on any of us that this is just the beginning of our work. The capital campaign continues, and our next milestone is to reach pledges of $2.5+ million with 200 (or more!) brothers participating. If you have already pledged or contributed, thank you again for your support! If you have not yet joined us, then why not do so now? Every dollar we raise reduces the burden on future brothers and positions us for the next 50+ years of Delts at Cornell. Kenneth Cula '24 Miami, Fla. "The brothers of Delta Tau Delta provided a home for me when I needed one and provided support and friendship with no expectation of anything in return. A house with brothers of such virtue was a house I wanted to be a part of." Vincent Fong '24 New York City, N.Y. "I had a few friends in the fraternity already and knew the brothers were good people. After hanging out with some more of the guys, I came to realize they were my vibe." Kyle La Spisa '24 Livingston, Mont. Laurence Koodin '25 Suffern, N.Y. "I joined Delta Tau Delta because of how the fraternity seems to prioritize brotherhood over anything else. The brothers seem to value the right things; they work hard but also play hard."
