THETA IOTA page 3 PHILANTHROPY PHILANTHROPY Theta Iota Chapter is working toward our 2022-23 goal of raising $75,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Our first fall event was "Seas the Day for St. Jude," where we invited local families and children to participate in ocean-themed yard games, cornhole, and a dunk tank; the event raised over $3,550. At the end of September, our members traveled to the St. Jude Walk/ Run in Downtown Kansas City to walk and show support for the hospital; we also heard from local St. Jude patients who shared their incredible stories. Later in October, our chapter hosted the Sigma Chi Fraternity members at our house for our annual letter-writing event, Sincerely Yours. During this event, Tri Delta and Sigma Chi members wrote letters to their families and friends asking for donations for St. Jude. Finally, in November, our chapter hosted Delta House of Pancakes, serving unlimited pancakes and breakfast food throughout the evening. In addition, members signed up for our annual pancake eating contest to win gift cards and St. Jude merch. Overall, the fall semester has been filled with many fun and successful philanthropy events, and we are looking forward more this spring! SOCIAL SOCIAL It's been a great semester to connect with others on campus! Our first date party of the year was called "Delta Davidson," in which members and their dates dressed up as bikers; everyone had a blast! We have also had a few mixers throughout the year with other fraternities. Our mixer with Sigma Alpha Epsilon was one so many women loved; our theme was "Yoga," with the men and women wearing workout gear. Mixers are such a great way to make friends and connections with other members in Greek life, and I know our new member class has made so many connections already. Another fun event was our dinner swap with Pi Kappa Alpha. Freshmen and sophomores from both groups went to the Pike house for dinner, while juniors and seniors ate at our Chapter House. We also had a Siblings Weekend and Dad's Weekend, which were a great way to spend time with our families over food and football. SISTERHOOD SISTERHOOD The first sisterhood event of the year kicked off with the entire chapter in attendance, including our fall new member class! After painting tote bags and making sundaes at the Chapter House, the new members spent the night for their first- ever sisterhood sleepover and got to know each other a little better. For the next event, we visited a local Manhattan farm where the ladies did goat yoga! It was a great time enjoying the outdoors and supporting a local business as sisters. Last for this semester was the annual Pine Party with cookie decorating, holiday movies, a gift exchange, and a hot chocolate bar! RECRUITMENT RECRUITMENT The fall semester started with an exciting primary recruitment. We were thrilled to switch back to a schedule with both work week and recruitment week being in person and concluding before school starts. Due to many gracious donations from parents and alumni, the recruitment team completed all their dream plans for the primary recruitment weeks and Bid Day. During work week, members of all ages bonded with one another through practicing meaningful conversations, sharing fun surprises such as cookie bakes from Mr. K's and a water balloon fight, dressing in fun themes like "Lucky to Be a Tri Delta," and listening to special memories from upperclassmen and stories from those who have been able to visit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Recruitment ran smoothly, and we welcomed the maximum number of 32 new members. Our Bid Day theme was "Tri Delta Airlines," so we used passports as name tags for new members and had many photo opportunities in front of banners with slogans such as "We Only Fly Delta." We even had a bounce house this year, which was never empty the whole night! Inside, all members, new and old, enjoyed delicious appetizers and a cloud wall with a neon sign. Overall, the night was a very special way to celebrate the new member class. Since primary recruitment, we have started continuous open bidding and gained six more new members. We will continue this informal process throughout the year in hopes to add more women to our chapter. In the meantime, we have initiated our new members and are so excited to see the amazing futures they will have in Tri Delta! Delta Love, Lauren Lundy '20 Chapter President Lydia Held '21 and Sydney Peck '22 celebrate Bid Day! Jordan Deason '21, Sophie Smith '22, Caitlin Murray '20, Brooke Gager '22, and Maisie Dearasaugh '21 at our mom/dot reveal! SISTERS NEW AND OLD ENJOY IN-PERSON RECRUITMENT WE ONLY FLY (TRI) DELTA
