6 DELTA UPSILON - UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS 1 A ll gifts to this campaign will be used for the renovation of the house. Two funds have been established: a Chapter fund and an educational fund. The DU Educational Foundation can receive gifts in support of Illinois Chapter exclusively for educational areas of the facility. Due to certain limitations with foundation gifts, we respectfully request only gifts of $25,000 or more be made to the foundation. A large percentage of the project is deemed non-educational, which means there is a need for contributions that are not restricted to the foundation to complete the project with minimal debt to the Chapter. To give the Alumni Board maximum flexibility in managing cash flow, alumni are encouraged to make their gift to Illinois Chapter. If you are interested in making any of the following gifts, please contact our campaign coordinator, Kyle Yarawsky, at kyarawsky@penningtonco.com or (785) 843-1661. RECOGNITION Donors of $2,500 and above will be recognized in the appropriate giving categories in all campaign publications, unless otherwise requested by donor. Donors at $5,000 and above will be recognized on a permanent plaque in the house. GIVING SOCIETIES SUPPORT THE FUTURE OF DU NEW AND IMPROVED BASEMENT SPACE: Our basement plays a major part in the Chapter's housing plans. The basement has historically underutilized square footage and is ripe with opportunity. We intend to make it a large, dedicated social area and community space for our brothers and guests. Currently, the basement has a low, 7-foot-6-inch ceiling; the new basement will have ceilings at least 10 feet high. The basement remodel will include: • Repurposing the existing bar. • Connecting the open first-floor stair to the basement. • Removal of all low-hanging mechanical piping. • Increase the existing masonry opening widths with new steel beams to create larger window views. With the new basement structure, we have an opportunity to manage all subsurface drainage by appropriately utilizing a new foundation under-drain system. New underpinning will reinforce the foundation, and the installation of a water vapor barrier, HVAC system, and heated slab will keep the basement dry. We believe the reimagined basement will be one of the highlights of our historic home!
