"SIPPING COFFEE AND COUNTING MY BLESSINGS"
was the subject of Lorie's Monday morning email following our Centennial
Celebration weekend. An incredible celebration, indeed!
I
f you were there, you reveled in the gathering of over 200 women
celebrating our magnificent history. If you were unable to attend, we hope
you've been able to see some of the photos online. Please know we all held
you in our hearts and spirit.
One of our sisters, Joan McMahon Schneider '53, truly captured our
hearts. Joan reached out early last spring to share she was planning on
attending and hoped to find other sisters nearby who were also going to
the celebration. As we spoke, Joan shared more about her rich Beta Beta
history, including chapter president and mortar board, and her post-
graduation adventures as a working woman. Then, we found Joan's 1952
composite hanging in the Feronian Room!
We marveled at Joan's tenacity and bubbly personality on display at all
the weekend's events. Particularly heartwarming was the connection Joan
made with sisters of all ages. During the house tours, one sister was eager
to meet Joan, as she was hoping Joan might have known her mother,
who lived in the house during the same years. It was even more poignant
because this woman's mother had passed away when she was 10.
Joan's spirit shows us that now is the time to show up and show out! We
are looking for spirited women (or as Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin
said, "Badass Women") to help lead the way into our next century. Come
join us!
Speaking of strong women, our Centennial Celebration Steering Committee
was outstanding and deserves a standing ovation for all their efforts:
