TRUE MERIT BOWL #7!
This summer, brothers Will Hansen '20 and Matt Pawl '20 attended
the National Congress Meeting, where we received our seventh
True Merit Bowl in a row! This is outstanding, and we are so proud
of our Gamma Upsilon members for upholding high standards and
maintaining our tradition of being leaders.
ACADEMIC ACCELERATION
Our chapter had an exciting start to the 2022-23 school year, and as we
near the end of the fall semester, we are continuously striving to build
on the recent successes around campus. Last semester, we recorded a
chapter GPA of 3.11, which put us 12th overall in all fraternities. We
are constantly working to improve in our academics and hope to place
even higher this semester.
CONES, BONES, AND ATΩ HARVEST
Last spring, brother Jordan Seifriz '21 hosted our Cones and Bones
philanthropy, where members brought their dogs and served ice cream
and snow cones. This event has been a hit from the start. We raised
$2,500 for the Puppy Jake Foundation, which helps veterans with
service dogs. The donation was enough for us to name a service dog
Tau! This fall, Jordan hosted ΑΤΩ Harvest to support ACCESS, an
assault care center in Ames. At the event, we served caramel apples
and apple cider, and everyone enjoyed themselves.
EXPANDING THE BROTHERHOOD
Our recruitment chairmen, Ben Alleman '21 and Danny Brazhnikov
'20, worked diligently this summer to ensure we had a great fall class,
and thanks to them, we welcomed 36 new members. We look forward
to getting to know each brother throughout the rest of the year. See our
list of new members on page 2.
GREEK WEEK AND HOMECOMING
Last semester, we were paired with Delta Zeta for Greek Week. We
worked extremely hard and ended up taking 3rd place in the lip sync
competition. We were paired with Alpha Phi for Homecoming this fall,
and we worked together to ensure we had a lot of participation within
our chapters.
ALUMNI TAILGATE AND DAD'S WEEKEND
Our recent alumni event, hosted by Alex Bice '20, consisted of a
tailgate in the back lot. I hope everyone in attendance had as much
fun as we did! Dad's Weekend was also a success, and we enjoyed
connecting with our brothers' families while enjoying some football.
COME SEE US!
This year has already been a blast and is moving very fast. We look
forward to what the rest of the semester will bring. As always, our door
is always open, so feel free to stop by anytime!
