Our recruitment team did a fantastic job welcoming 50 new women into Alpha Chi Omega. The team is consistently working on continuous open bidding to ensure our numbers stay at their highest. We celebrated our new member class with a taco dinner and dance at The Graduate Hotel in downtown Lincoln. Academic Success Academic Success Our most exciting progress to share involves our academic growth. The all- house cumulative GPA rose from 3.29 in fall 2021 to 3.49 in spring 2022—a 0.20 increase! This was the highest GPA jump throughout the entire Greek community at the University of Nebraska. Our vice president of intellectual development, Kaylee Vampola '19, is pleased to share that the number of women on an academic contract has been divided in half since last semester. Members participated by donating various toiletries, clothing, and dry food items, which were then directly given to victims of domestic violence. Our second philanthropy event, Dog Days, was held on October 7 with Delta Tau Delta. During the event, participants played with service dogs and enjoyed donuts. Sisterhood Events Sisterhood Events Members have also participated in various sisterhood events this semester, planned by vice president of sisterhood, Sabrina DeGeorge '20. Events have included an instructional yoga night in the backyard, an outdoor movie night with a blow-up projector, and a Kona Ice truck. To help ensure our chapter's safety, our vice president of risk management, Frannie Hutchings '20, invited alumna Mandy Hurt Craig '96 to come speak with our members about alcohol risks on campus. Members were able to actively ask questions and engage with the presentation. Xi has enjoyed a fantastic fall semester so far, and we look forward to what the rest of the year will bring. After we satisfy our probation period through November, we plan to keep our members educated while moving forward and continuing to better ourselves and our chapter. Maintaining high standards of academic excellence remains another one of our main goals this year. We would like to keep providing all resources possible, as well as looking for new ones, for members to have a high- achieving academic year. We believe getting women involved and having active engagement is the foundation that builds the chapter. This year, we are focusing on retention throughout member classes, alumni involvement, and engagement in all areas.
