alpha chi omega | page 2 S incerest greetings from the collegiate women of Alpha Nu! We are thrilled to share what life has been like here at 900 Richmond Avenue over the past few months! CONVENTION AND AWARDS Alpha Nu was recognized at the 2022 National Convention in July with the Seeking the Heights - Chapter Growth award. We were honored to receive this award and are grateful to our 2021 and 2022 executive boards for implementing practices into our chapter that enrich the experiences of our members. We are committed to providing opportunities for lasting and fulfilling relationships for our members. RECRUITING NEW SISTERS During formal recruitment (see story on page 3), we welcomed 63 members home on Bid Day, themed "Alpha Chi Just Got Sweeter," then added 11 members through COB. A lot of prep work went into recruitment, and we are so proud of the contributing sisters. We are also proud of the Real. Strong. Women. we added to our chapter! ACADEMIC SUCCESS Academics are a top focus and core value for our chapter, and we are proud of our accomplishments and the determination all members continue to put into their studies. We are thrilled that 148 members were on the spring 2022 Dean's List and Alpha Nu ranked fifth overall among Panhellenic sororities with our chapter GPA of 3.5. Our vice president of intellectual development, Lainy Lamb '20, provided cookies for those sisters who achieved Dean's List recognition. PHILANTHROPIC PURSUITS Our vice president of philanthropy, Lexi Nichols '20, coordinated and planned several events to help reach our philanthropy goal in the spring. In April, Alpha Nu hosted its first Alpha Chi Carnival philanthropy event, where community members were able to Pie an Alpha Chi, play yard games, enjoy carnival-themed foods and Dunk an Alpha Chi. It was such a great time that even Mizzou's football coach, Eli Drinkwitz, stopped by with some of his team! Other spring events included Swishin' for a Mission (a 3-on-3 basketball tournament with teams made up of Mizzou students), Denim Day and more. Alpha Nu is proud to announce that, at the end of the spring semester, we raised $28,500 for True North of Columbia! This fall, we hosted our traditional Burgers and Fries with the Alpha Chis as well as Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. CONGRATULATIONS, ZOE! We want to recognize Zoe Hughes '19, who was awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the St. Louis Panhellenic Association. Applicants for the scholarship must have graduated from a high school in the St. Louis area, be an active undergraduate member of a National Panhellenic Conference sorority at a Missouri college or university, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville or McKendree University and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Applicants were scored according to the contributions they made to their respective sororities, campuses and communities, their Panhellenic involvement, employment opportunities as well as honors and awards they have received while in college. FATHER FIGURE WEEKEND Our vice president of membership programming, Amy Bryan '20, planned a fantastic weekend of fun and football for our Father Figure Weekend, September 29-October 2. Members enjoyed a barbecue at Stephens Lake Park with their guests on Friday night, followed by the football game versus Georgia the following day. Nothing is better than spending time with our sisters and our loved ones! We are so thankful to Amy for the hard work she put into making the weekend perfect for us to enjoy! HOMECOMING 2022 We saved the best news for last: Megan Ciaramitaro '19, VP diversity, equity and inclusion, was selected as Homecoming Queen for Mizzou's 111th Homecoming on October 22. She's a political science and history major from St. Louis. We also took first place in Campus Decorations, second place in Blood Donations, third place in Parade and fifth place in Decorate the District. The chapter was paired with the men of Alpha Gamma Rho and Kappa Sigma. The general theme was Cartoons; our subtheme was Peanuts. WHAT'S AHEAD We cannot wait to see what the rest of this semester holds for us and to be able to provide continuing service to our community. On behalf of Alpha Nu, thank you for your continued support; we wouldn't be here without you! Please visit our website at alphachimizzou.com and follow our social media accounts at @ alphachimizzou. Sending all the best from behind the little red door! Loyally, The Collegiate Women of Alpha Nu Celebrating Our Successes AND PLANNING FOR MORE! Homecoming Queen Megan Ciaramitaro '19 1st place, Campus Decorations 3rd place, Parade
