STRENGTHENING THE BROTHERHOOD
Brothers Come Together This Fall
T
he fall 2022 school year has gotten off to a great start
for Sigma Chi. We welcomed our new housemother,
Daphne Crump, this semester, and she has integrated into
the house effortlessly.
WELCOME, NEW SIGS!
Our recruitment chairmen signed 26 pledges last spring and
summer, and they were all initiated on September 24. Dave
and I had the pleasure to attend with 18 other alumni, and
the active chapter did a great job demonstrating the beauty
of our ritual to our new, young brothers.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Academics continues to improve, and we hope to build on
last semester's 3.20 grade-point average. This has been an
emphasis of the recruitment program, and every year we
keep moving closer to our goal of a sustained position in the
top quarter on campus.
BROTHERHOOD EVENTS
On October 1, dozens of alumni and undergraduates
enjoyed a tailgate event prior to K-State's victory
over Texas Tech. This was the fourth year the housing
corporation hosted this event, and despite the 11 a.m.
kickoff, it continues to be well-attended. It was great to
meet brothers from all over the U.S. at the tailgate and the
house for tours after the game.
In this newsletter, you will hear from Scott Smith '89, who
is chairing the 75th anniversary planning committee. This
event is tentatively scheduled for the spring of '24. If you
would like to help with this, please reach out to Scott or me.
SUPPORTING THE CHAPTER
This December, we will end collecting on the pledges
from the capital campaign of 2015-16. We have collected
over 96% of pledged donations and hope to be at or near
100% by the end of the year. If you would like to know
your pledge balance, please contact me or our campaign
coordinator, Caroline Hammond at Pennington & Company
at chammond@penningtonco.com. We will be contacting
all donors next year to verify their details as we plan the
donor recognition board.
We want to thank all the alumni once again, past and present,
who have contributed to Sigma Chi. We have a wonderful
chapter, and your efforts are key to its continued success.
