To the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon, I shall forever be grateful to you for connecting me to Beartracks. I was particularly remembering a visit Sr. Ellen and I had with Beartracks at his home on a very hot afternoon in the midst of major tornado warnings for Phelps County. Despite the warnings, he insisted that we come. So, with the TV blaring "take shelter" messages, we were drinking extra-sized cans of beer. He insisted we have more than one, but we declined. After the storm subsided, he took us for a drive to see a very special Shriner's "temple" out in the country. We drove and drove, and he could not find it, so we returned to Rolla. What an afternoon that was. I called to thank him the next day and he told me he enjoyed it too—and that he had two more beers that evening and then promptly fell in the kitchen, hit his head, and had to get six stitches. About Our Newsletter Namesake A MEMORY OF WILBERT "BEARTRACKS" BURTON '64 F or the 75th Celebration, several alumni distinguished themselves with donations to support undergraduate participation in the lunch and dinner events.
